Stayed here one night pre cruise used there airport pick up 60 dollars a person. No one was there, transport vehicle broke down, I called and someone picked us up 45mins later. very apologetic, we checked in, very small room, ac worked very cold shower nice and hot, wifi good inside hotel. Breakfast good when they ran out one of the workers quickly.made was was needed. Shuttle to port ( 10 dollars) in am was disorganized. We were told at 1145 Shuttle(5 dollars each) would take us, but he was full and didn't come back until 1230. Very apologetic again driver was very nice. Other passengers on Shuttle all helped us get in. The people that own and work here are very nice, the problem it is a very long walk to get something to eat or drink and taxis are scarce and charge a lot for short trips. We got there around 230-3pm. And no food was available until 7, we walked several miles and found a pizza place open. If your looking for a clean small place pre or post cruise and only want to stay at hotel everything will be fine here. But if you want to see the port area and go out, this isn't the place. Again, staff and owners very friendly helpful and...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at Hotel Borgo del Mare from April 12 through 21, 2025. Our stay was fantastic! We enjoyed breakfast and dinner there every day during our stay. The room was adequate and clean. Alessandro Trotta is an outstanding hotelier.
The Hotel’s Ristorante was superb! The variety and quality of breakfast items was outstanding. Dinners were always hot, plenty of variety. The pasta course each night had a different type of pasta complemented with a scrumptious sauce. The main course was fresh and well prepared. Cooks Caterina and Elena have been with the hotel for a generation.
The Hotel office, hallways and restaurant were decorated with handmade pieces of art. All were done by Piero Trotta, the family’s patriarch.
We want to give recognition and thanks to the entire staff for making our stay in Civitavecchia a 5-Star experience. Betty and I highly recommend a stay that includes half board for either your pre or post cruise stay.
Thanks Piero, Alessandro, Davide, Marcello, Caterina, Elena and all the other staff for making our stay at Hotel Borgo del Mare a truly memorable...
Read moreThis hotel/ restaurant/bar is a great place. The service was top notch. Very friendly and helpful staff and most of them spoke decent English . The bar is open pretty much all day and the restaurant is open from 7-10. They have the best coffee and a great free breakfast with a spread of local baked goods and bacon and eggs. For dinner they have a nightly special for 20€. It comes with delicious bread to start followed by pasta and then a meat (fish or steak) and a salad. I had cuttlefish and my wife had pork steak. Both were delicious. Our room had a beautiful sea side view. The bed and pillows were a butt firm for my taste but I brought my own pillow (recommended). They have a shuttle that will take you to the port or the airport for minimal fee. There are some nice restaurants within walking distance. A lot of restaurants are closed during the day and open around 7 but there are plenty to eat at for lunch...
