We stayed here for a weeks skiing with ski Miquel after france closed its borders to Brits. Considering the hotel had to cope with 50 odd British people at the last minute, they did a fantastic job.
Ski Miquel offer a catered chalet and so this was never going to be easy to accommodate in a hotel that wasn’t set up for that type of model at that short notice. The staff were very friendly and really made us feel welcome. The food started out a little wobbly (understandable seeing as they normally cater for a few Italians and suddenly had 50 brits with a weeks notice over Christmas!) but improved hugely over the week. We had 4 courses in an Italian style (starter, primi, secondi, desert) with a buffet salad. The wine was cheap and they had a good selection of beers. There was also a bar next door that was warm, welcoming and happy to accommodate kids playing (there is a also a games room for them).
The hotel staff were absolutely great with the kids, made their meals fun and entertaining and really made their week. The hotel staff also had kids and they all played together which was great for us as it meant we could relax knowing that they were enjoying themselves in the hotel.
Claviere itself is a lovely town and the people friendly. Everywhere requires a proof of vaccination (super green pass) to get in and everything well cleaned. The Italians are great with kids and they were great with them at the ski school. All of the kids in our group (under 8s) we’re beginner skiers and were being taken up on reds by the end of the week. This meant we could take them to the top of the mountain confidently in the afternoons.
Whilst not what we had originally expected or paid for (which is definitely not the hotels fault!) this turned out to be a great holiday for us and the kids, which was in a large part down to the hotel, staff and the lovely town of Claviere! Hotel Passero Pellegrino would definitely be our first choice if we ever returned to Claviere (or indeed the Milky Way...

Read moreThe most disappointing hotel in Claviere!! We have visited the village for over 40 years and this was the first time we have stayed in the Passero Pellegrino and will definitely be the last.||The food was terrible, we were a larger party so had a specific menu, off the main menu which had poor choices, served cold and we could be waiting for over an hour for starters. |The attitude of the staff changed daily, from being slightly helpful to completely dismissive of our feedback. The parking is NOT free and please be careful as pre-booking is required which we were not aware.|The rooms are tired and hot water and heating unpredictable, not ideal in winter!|The bar area whilst nice, hotel guests were certainly not given any priority over seating areas or service. Generally only one person behind the bar and on average it took 17 minutes to get a...
