Were given the name of this hotel by a friend in France. We were not disappointed with the recommendation! Located 30 meters from the chair lift of Claviere (which came in very handy this morning as my 10 year old forgot his lift pass in his hotel room and was able to run back before his ski lesson group made it to the lift to go up the mountain.) Very friendly at check in and with any and all questions that we had throughout our stay. Very generous breakfast each morning that included home made croissants that were devoured by the patrons within minutes of their arrival on the buffet table. Generous pastries, cakes, yogurt, ham, cheese and cereal as well as fruit. The hot chocolate (and expresso) machine was a favorite with out children. We opted for half board and had a full 3 hours meal each evening in the dining room, as did most of the patrons. They were absolutely delicious and only added 10 euros to the cost each night (a real bargain as we could only get a one course lunch for 13 euros in town.) We added lunch one day for 10 euros each. When we asked what the menu was, they asked as what we would like to eat...a real home feel. We felt like we were being taken care of by family. The chalet was built in 1971 and the original family owns and runs the chalet today. ||||The rooms were spacious and clean. They were warmed with radiant heat which doubled as a great ski clothes dryer. There was a new television on the wall which we never used (but our children did in their room. )The smell of freshly mopped floor greets you as you enter the building. The shower was especially clean with not a spot of mold ( a huge problem for us as we have allergies). Beds were a little hard and the interior had a rustic chalet look, but the facility is well maintained. The wifi did not work well in the rooms, and my husband figured that the router must be on the same power circuit as the lights in the hallway that turned off automatically. We would migrate the short distance into the common room throughout the day to use the wifi there which was always reliable. ||||The staff were eager to point out best places for ski rentals and ski classes. We did price comparisons throughout the week and they had indeed led us to the best places for both. For the price and the inclusive package of superb dinners and breakfast as well as the amazing location right at the base of the chair lift we could not have asked for a better...
Read moreStay at Piccolo Chalet was like home from home. Nice clean rooms with all that's needed for a relaxing night after a long day of skiing. The owner Signora Maria was so welcoming and she made us feel like family. The staff especially Giulia and Alessandra couldn't do enough for us they were so patient and accomadating. The chefs meals each evening were superb every night something special was made and as we were a party of twelve we each had something we especially enjoyed each evening. The location of the hotel is excellent for skiing as the chair lift is right on its door step. As a beginner the nursery slopes were a short walk away which after a long day of practising was greatly appreciated.||The town Claviere is a pretty and friendly place to visit, the ski hire shop is also close by and the staff are also very kind and helpful. ||We all were very happy with our stay and we will definitely be returning very soon. || ||||||||...
Read moreHave stayed in this hotel twice in december 2012 and 2013 and shall return without any doubt. Location is excellent, owners very dedicated and helpful and good value for money. The small town of Claviere is characterized by Italian influence and simplicity. Not much for shopaholics but enough for any emergency requirement. Ski shop is 50 mts away from this hotel and ski pass booth is 100 mts away. First ski lift is just 50 mts away on skies from the ski room. The only negative I can think of is that the ski boxes are not heated. Good and well groomed slopes with little queues on the Italian side but very crowded over on the French side. Nearby Briancon is worth a visit and so is Sauze D Oulx and Sestiere. Claviere is just slightly over an hour s drive from Turin which is also worth a visit. Make sure you carry snow chains or order winter types if you are driving as it can become an issue when there is a...
