Honestly, this place had been on my list for a long time & ultimately, my partner and I were left very disappointed.
Firstly, we booked for valentines week & had arranged a 1 week stay, inclusive of a not so cheap spa package for each of us. The whole purpose of the trip was to have a nice relaxing spa break & if we weren’t going here, we were going somewhere else.
Here’s where the HUGE negatives begin, within an hour of arriving we’re informed that my partner wouldn’t be able to receive any of the spa treatments.
Despite no mention of it online, they aren’t able to cater to pregnant women without a doctors note - which was impossible to retrieve at such short notice, everyone in the UK knows what doctors are like at the moment.
So there we are, travelled to one of the best spa hotels in Europe supposedly, and they don’t cater to pregnant women, so my partner is bored stiff for the week whilst I’m attending treatments feeling terrible because I’m the only one getting the experience.
We were given the price of the treatments back as credit but money isn’t an issue & this made no difference to our terrible experience - it was a total waste of time & to have paid in excess of £6000, to not receive the experience or break that we’d envisioned was horrendous.
Furthermore, whilst the hotel and the rooms are extremely high quality (like, really high), the rest isn’t great either. Considering we were in Italy, famous for great food, the fact there’s one pasta dish on the room service menu is atrocious.
Add to that, the pizza is absolutely horrendous - one night we ordered 3 or 4 times (they wanted to keep trying again) because every single time, the pizza arrived wet, sloppy & dripping in oil. Pretty much inedible.
All in all it was a truly disappointing experience which felt like a total waste of money & as good as the hotel is at the outer core, and as much as I would’ve liked to visit the lake Garda venue too, I don’t think I’ll be returning.
Taking peoples money under the false pretence they’ll be having the spa experience/holiday of their life, only to let them down upon arrival because they’re pregnant, is criminal.
I feel like we were robbed, especially when treatments for pregnant women should be a given at a place which claims to be one of the best...
Read moreAlmost perfect (save for an unfortunate experience at Grual, the Hotel's fine-dining restaurant), this was one of our favourite spa breaks in a long time.
We spent 2 nights at Lefay in June/July celebrating my partner's birthday. We were appointed an immaculate room on the corner of the 4th floor, looking out to the beautiful valley and mountain views.
The rooms are serene and well-equipped with everything you might need and are regularly refreshed. They even arranged my partner's large assortment of earrings into neatly aligned pairs. Great attention to detail.
The spa is immense, with numerous pools, saunas, dips and steam rooms. The location is perfect for exploring the various trails and natural beauty spots - a visit to Doss del Sabion is a must. The daily complimentary guided hikes are a nice touch, too.
Our treatments (we had 3 each in total) were mostly great, including a massage and scrub, although I'd skip the hydrotherapy next time.
The staff are helpful and attentive, and on the whole, sing from the same hymn sheet.
Unfortunately, our experience at Lefay's high-end 'Grual' restaurant wasn't great.
Due to short staffing, our 8-course meal lasted 3 hours and 15 minutes. That's 25 minutes per course. Remember - these are very small courses!
Several of the dishes were underwhelming, and one of the menu's highlights was not available and substituted. As the hours passed, we grew increasingly bored and wanted the experience to end. The table next to us sent back two rounds of dishes.
Other tables also showed frustration, yet the manager avoided addressing any issues. We voiced our concerns to the waiter, who was candidly honest about the situation, but the manager never made any apology or effort to remedy the experience.
The supposed strict dress code I was warned about (seriously) at the front desk upon arrival wasn't enforced, as the family, including two young children next to me were decked out in sports attire and tracksuits. Either have the rule or don't.
For an expensive meal, this was a pretty dire experience - which remains the only low point of what was otherwise an wonderful two days at Lefay.
In short: Stay for the spa, avoid...

We spent five unforgettable days in June at the Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti in Pinzolo with our whole family – and we were all absolutely thrilled. This hotel is a true gem in the Dolomites.
The architecture is modern yet warm, beautifully integrated into the natural surroundings. Inside, everything is tastefully designed with high-end materials and impeccable care – it feels as if the hotel just opened yesterday. Everything is spotless and perfectly maintained.
Our Junior Suites were flawless: spacious, elegant, and incredibly comfortable. We genuinely couldn’t think of anything that could be improved.
Culinary offerings were top-notch. Whether breakfast, lunch, or dinner – every meal was a delight, with exquisite dishes, fresh ingredients, and outstanding service. The restaurants and bars, both indoors and outdoors, are stylish and inviting.
For those who enjoy activities, there are high-quality mountain bikes and e-bikes available, as well as guided tours – all very well organized.
The absolute highlight, however, is the SPA area: vast, luxurious, and thoughtfully designed. There’s a huge indoor and outdoor pool, a separate sports pool, and countless saunas – each unique and special. The entire area is so clean and refined that you could eat off the floor. Everything is built with the finest materials and designed for the most discerning guests.
A special compliment also goes to the staff, who were consistently professional, attentive, and warm. We’d especially like to mention Julia at the restaurant reception – her radiant smile welcomed us at every meal and truly lit up our day. Hospitality at its finest. Also a big thank-you to Michele, who offered flawless, charming, and friendly service.
We’ve already decided: we’ll be back soon! This resort didn’t just impress us –...
