Just returned from an amazing week in this beautiful apartment. The location of the apartment gives a breathtaking view of the lake, but it is quite a long way up the mountain. I made a screenshot of excel12's directions, and they were perfect, much better than where our GPS wanted to take us. Really glad we decided to hire a car, otherwise we would really have been stranded! |The apartment itself was beautifully decorated, with a jacuzzi bath, gym equipment, a superkingsize bed with memory foam mattress, air conditioning, a wardrobe containing the kitchen (yes, really!), a lovely bathroom and a sofa bed on which our 10 and 13 year old slept on very comfortably. We asked to have breakfast every day, which was just gorgeous on the roof top terrace, overlooking the lake!|Gardone Riviera was just lovely to explore, with the Vittoriale, the beaches and the town itself. Our children particularly enjoyed the Rimballzello beach and pool, especially jumping off the little jetty into the lake. Salo is also a must to explore. We loved eating at the restaurant/pizzeria just down a little from the apartments, Nablus, where the waiter spoke perfect English, and was very patient in reading through the menu for us. Incredibly reasonably priced too, for gorgeous food. |We made a day trip into Venice, which actually was much easier to drive to than we were anticipating, taking about 2 hours. Unfortunately it was so hot (apparently much hotter than normal!) that we could only last a few hours before the children were struggling with the heat. We also enjoyed catching the ferry to Sirmione, where the castle was beautiful and the ice creams were a real hit. |Gilli (the owner), was very welcoming, and was able to offer advice on all activities and excursions we made. Despite saying she only knew a little English, she was able to tell us everything we needed to know, and her English was MUCH better than...
Read moreThis is an amazing and secluded property set up high on the hillside, with even more amazing views of Lake Garda from BOTH of our balconies, where we sat surrounded by olive trees. Quality and care are evident throughout, from the high quality linens, quilts, and furnishings, to the attractive, soothing decor with sweet little personal touches. Very comfortable mattress, even in the sofa bed. Super clean everywhere (they even mop the terrace!). The kitchenette housed inside a wardrobe/shrank was just adorable! The hostess is extremely kind and helpful, got us reservations at great Italian restaurant at the waters edge (to be completely honest, the restaurant is hard to find, set back, down a narrow alley from the boardwalk (use Google and zoom in), and only the outdoor tables have a [distant] water view). We took the optional breakfast at the Casale, which while not a huge variety, was again superb quality and plenty! Three different meats, a wonderful mild local cheese, assorted fresh croissants and rolls, jams (made by her), local honey, kids cereals, assorted fresh fruit, focaccia, olive oil (hers again), yogurt, and fresh fruit juices. I thought very reasonable at €9/p She even set up linens and place settings on the terrace above so we could carry up our trays and enjoy it outside. Our stay there was just wonderful. We will...
Read moreWe stayed here for 3 nights on our first stop on a tour around Italy and loved it! Easy to find with the sat nav but it is a way up the hill from the centre of Gardone, you need a car unless you want to get taxis, but that is what makes it special being away from it all in the quiet, and the amazing views across the lake. Our room was lovely very Italian style, shabby chic and very clean. Breakfast was good plenty to choose from which you can have out on the terrace and admire the view and there is bottled water that you can help yourself to from the fridge whenever you like. The owner was a very lovely lady happy to help book any restaurants for you. We walked down to the nearest pizzeria restaurant about 10 mins downhill, very non touristy and fantastic pizzas! Just got a steep hill to walk up after but that helps burn off your dinner! We also had dinner in town another night there are a few restaurants there to choose from then took some drinks back with us to have on our balcony (you can use the fridge in the main area to cool your drinks) Would highly recommend to stay here if you like to see the real lake Garda and get away from the main busy...
