Palace Hotel Desenzano — Hotel in Desenzano del Garda

My husband booked a room for 3 nights and it cost 580+ euro. We used the blue app to booked and there's a misunderstanding because even you filtered it with pet friendly hotel, palace hotel still appeared in the options,now im confused because here in tripadvisor they claim their hotel that pet is allowed!!! The Palace hotel- decenzano rejected us upon check-in because we had my dog with us! They did not accommodate and help us find a solution about it! Instead the front desk guy just insist that they don't allow the dog! It's 7pm in the evening and we drive 6 hours to arrived in Decenzano!!! We're tired and hotel doesn't allowed us to check-in even not helping us find a solution or find another hotel for us! My husband did not get angry or shout at them but they claim that my husband misbehave that's way they don't refund us the money! What happened is when they saw the dog the staff immediately act rudely and exaggerating to hold his head and saying "no! Dog is not allowed!" My husband response is "yes it was" and he responded this way" i work here so i know the rules!!!" That's the time my husband say "then give me my room or give me back my money! He said i have to speak to the director idk! My husband say then i call police! He replied i will be the one will call a police and he did! Police came! Other guest saw it! Police didn't help us anyway and we are force to go away without any solution! No refund! We tried to call the blue app customer service to help us find solution for refund but they already reported to the blue app that my husband misbehave that's way they don't refund the money! So my husband call the hotel Palace management and talk to the manager! They refuse refund still and said that they will review/confirm to the staff what happened ( because the staff treated my husband very badly!) they are offering us voucher instead of refund!! But who would like to return in that hotel with the traumatic experience ??? Rudeness of the front desk?? Calling police to be involved just for the misunderstanding of bringing DOG with us?!! The hotel itself was very clean and the cleaning staff were friendly. |One very friendly bar staff- I think his name was Francesco. Very pleasant and helpful. But most of the other staff were unsmiling, not very warm or approachable. |The reception staff were ok, helpful enough.||However, the breakfast was limited and we soon got bored with what they had on offer. |Nice lunch menu - and the food was really good. But it’s a shame there was no offer of food after 6pm. Especially as the hotel is nowhere near any other food places! ||The location of the hotel - I did not like. Yes it was near the lake and that was beautiful, the path that runs all the way to Desenzano is wonderful. However, unless you are prepared to walk over 2 miles each night and back, there is nothing around. We did get taxis- but on 2 occasions were stuck in desenzano and had to walk back 2.4 miles to the hotel after a night out as there were no taxis available. Apparently it is known not to have a large taxi firm. There are buses, but we struggled to find the right ones that went to the hotel. We, as a family are quite fit so we didn’t mind the walk, but best to be aware if you’re not a walker or have young children. ||To go to Sirmione- the other way, was further. So this has to be a taxi or bus. Lovely place though- really full of hustle and bustle. |Lovely restaurants- but go away from the lake side and up the side streets to find the best ones. ||The pool in the hotel is small and we did not use the roof top one as it was packed. |No gym….bit of a disappointment! ||So all in all, it was OK but I would...

We hadn’t stayed in Desananzo before although we’ve stayed in other resorts .|The Palace hotel is situated about 5 mins by taxi from the very centre of town .. it’s a little too far to walk unless you are particularly energetic by nature , but there’s a public bus that goes frequently for 5 euros return .||We usually got the bus down and an Uber back . ||There’s a lovely lakeside path directly on the lake opposite the hotel if you prefer . ||The hotel is great . We had complimentary breakfast with all you’d need , freshly prepared and served buffet style .||Our room was very spacious , the largest on the trip , and had a king sized bed , loads of wardrobe storage , a huge bathroom with a great shower and double sinks , a complimentary mini bar with soft drinks and a 100sqm terrace with balcony and a view to the lake … And the price was so competitive.. three nights here in this deluxe level of property was equivalent financially to 4 nights in a Travelodge in England in August . ||It’s a really great spot . ||We didn’t use the Spa facilities but lots of people were doing so .. we used the rooftop terrace with infinity pool , we sat around the large outdoor pool in the grounds , we utilised the bar facilities , and would highly recommend the local Lugana white wine , available at 30 euros a bottle .. ||Great , friendly staff .. helped us book a taxi transfer to Verona airport for the end of our trip and throughout the stay were immensely helpful .. ||We will definitely stay again and will highly recommend it...
