This is a bit of complicated review as there is a staunch before and after. Started rough ended good.
We first arrived and had booked an attic/standard room - I thought it looked quite cute online and it was slightly cheaper. When we arrived and got into our room there was visible water damage along the wall, and mold - part of the wallpaper was peeling and we looked behind it. We told the front desk, and after some time said it was just staining but after I said no they gave us another room (on the same floor) hesitantly we went to look at the second room. Worse as the first I believe, along the wall and under the windows as well as in the corner. I came back down and told them, the receptionist seemed doubtful and disinterested (I get it partially, many people don’t understand mold). She said there was nothing they could do because she didn’t have any more rooms of that type and a different room would cost more, i asked if we could get a complimentary upgrade given the state of the rooms offered and she obliged.
The new room was one floor down and a stark difference, it was very nice! After looking at other reviews, our consensus is this: do not book attic rooms, it is not worth the 10-20 euros per night you will stay - there are many other reviews remarking the poor conditions of those rooms. The hotel should either not offer those rooms or do serious renovations (mold is a biotoxin).
We had dinner at the restaurant (reservations are required; I recommend calling ahead because the earliest was 2 hours later). But the food was very good. The room was comfortable.
then the breakfast was amazing! A very very good spread - plentiful meats, cheeses, bread, eggs, bacon, yogurt; fruits, juices, pastries. And both fresh espresso drinks at the bar or from a machine. The atmosphere and decor was great and service was very good.
The shuttle did cost money which I found are for an “Airport hotel” and at least for the one to the airport required a reservation. (We didn’t take it from the airport so I don’t know about that).
A big bummer was that the pool closed at 7:30 (19:30); which I thought was a bit early. I would assume because that is around when the restaurant opens and they are right next...
Read moreI’ll try to make this more of a review, but, my experience for the day!
I am an airline employee, who ended up not getting on (non-rev failure), my original homeward bound flight back to the states. I scrambled looking for a safe, secure, and quiet, hostel for the night. I struggled finding ANY mode of transit to Hotel Isola Sacra, and had been wandering the outdoor arrivals section of FCO, walked 30mins to and from a bus stop that google maps insisted existed, was told to take a “local taxi” to the establishment. I traveled alone, and let me now begin my review;
To the entire staff/ family of Hotel Isola Sacra; Thank You for the accommodation. I am sorry to have only gotten to spend a single night.
When I finally arrived after my travel hurdles, the staff were incredible. My Italian is that of a “bambino” (child), and they could not have been nicer to my simple gestures, and attempts at the wonderful language. I checked in with ease, and informed them that I would need a hotel transfer back to the airport in the morning.
I was early, about 1 Hour, to check-in, and for my piece of mind gracefully accept the 20EUR up-charge for a room that was ready for me to take a hot shower and small nap!
I proceeded to the bar/ outdoor lounge area for a few cocktails afterwards, and to listen to the birds (saw a green species of some variety that was simply amazing!). My communication was at fault as was my ignorance to properly order, but we all figured out what I was attempting to do, and their kindness flourished.
My evening ended with a fantastic meal of Tomato, Onion, and Octopus salad, which was heavenly! A glass of red wine, and a wonderful carbonara.
The bed was soft, and the towels big! I had a fantastic view of the courtyard and pool which I unfortunately did not get to use, but perhaps another time. The room was spotless, and I was simply thankful for the kindness everyone showed, as like mentioned above, was an excruciatingly long day.
It is outside the main city, and semi remote to the main attractions City Center has to offer, but was such a majestic stay after 3 days of a shared pod hostel in the city. I will be back, someday, but for...
Read moreWhile the hotel itself is clean and the facilities are reasonably maintained, the service has unfortunately fallen well below expectations. We have been here for less than five hours and have already experienced two significant instances of misinformation and poor guest communication.||First, at check-in we were told that no reservation was needed for lunch, but that one would be required for dinner. However, when we arrived at the restaurant at 12:30 PM, we were turned away and informed that a reservation was indeed necessary. At that time, there were approximately 15 open tables. Even an hour and a half later, at least 8 of those tables remained unoccupied—clearly indicating that lack of space was not the issue.||Second, we were told we could purchase shuttle tickets to visit the nearby shopping center and simply call the hotel 30 minutes before we needed a return ride. However, when we called for pickup, we were told the shuttle was not available and that we would need to call a taxi instead. As it was a Sunday, taxis were very difficult to come by—one of the very reasons we had planned to rely on the hotel’s shuttle service in the first place.||Upon finally returning to the hotel, we asked to speak with a manager to express our concerns. We were informed that no managers are on duty on Sundays. During our conversation with the front desk, the response was entirely focused on explaining what should have been communicated to us, effectively shifting the blame onto us as guests for not being properly informed.||This level of service is not what we expected, and it has significantly impacted the start of our stay. ||Clear communication and accountability are the bare minimum in hospitality—and sadly, both were lacking in our experience.||It was truly about the lack of accountability and shifting the blame by the desk clerk on the night of June 15th that was disappointing. ||The morning desk clerk finally offered us our...
