Dall Architetto — Hotel in Formia

First off, I am not a fan of home-stay properties, preferring to stay at a hotel. That being said, I could not find a hotel near the port of Formia for our next day embarkation to Ponza, and this seemed to be the closest overnight accommodation I could find, which was a straight 10 minute walk up the main road. We took a taxi from the train station, and the taxi driver had a bit of difficulty finding the precise building. It is on a small side street off the Main road, I think there was a clothing store at the corner. Anyway, the taxi driver called the number listed to confirm the location, and no one answered. We proceeded with some trepidation that we were at the right location, which ended up being fronted by a large wood door entrance a few feet off the main street.||The owner's son let us into the building and greeted us as we entered from the elevator. He was friendly and spoke some english. There seemed to be just 2 or 3 bedrooms. Our room was clean and comfortable with a double bed, aircon, and a small tv. As a previous review stated, the in-room bathroom was odd, with the shower in the same cubicle as the sink and toilet. We chose to use the shower in the hall bathroom instead. Ho soggiornato recentemente al B&B “Dall’architetto" di Formia” e ho avuto un’esperienza che definirei "variegata". Il proprietario è stato molto cordiale e accogliente, facendoci sentire subito a nostro agio. L’accoglienza è stata impeccabile, con un’atmosfera calda e ospitale. La posizione della struttura è eccellente, situata nel centro di Formia, vicino all’imbarco dei traghetti, il che è molto comodo per chi deve spostarsi inoltre la presenza di un parcheggio è un grande vantaggio. Le stanze, ricavate in uno studio per architetti, sono arredate con gusto e curate nei dettagli. Tuttavia, il bagno in camera è stato una delusione. Si tratta di una cabina doccia con dentro un wc e un lavandino molto piccolo,il tutto bello da vedersi ma poco funzionale, problema principale l'assenza totale di privacy poiché in comunicazione diretta con la stanza. Non c’è spazio per appoggiare carta igienica o asciugamani, e quando si usa la doccia si bagna qualsiasi cosa si trovi sotto, per asciugarsi bisogna uscire nella stanza. Fortunatamente, c’è un altro bagno in comune che è più funzionale. Prima di prenotare, consiglio vivamente di chiedere foto dettagliate della stanza e del bagno, anche perchè, non troverete nessuna foto sui siti (almeno io non ne ho trovate) del bagno...

The accommodation is brand new, very clean and with modern amenities. It is within walking distance from the train station and very close to the port. We stayed in the smaller room but there is also a larger one with a balcony with lovely views over the sea. The highlight, however, was the owner who has excellent knowledge of the area and the history and was very happy to share...
