Booked a one night stay on our way south. The positives are the hotel itself is beautiful. Attention to detail in the decor is stunning. Our room most pleasant.||Problems were the lack of customer service provided to their guests. I sent an email to request a reservation in the taverna. Never received a reply/acknowledgment and when we arrived at the taverna there was no reservation.||We arrived at 8:00 pm and we notified the hotel of the time of our arrival. Parking across the street a fellow in an orange vest helped with our luggage to the door. It was locked. He went to the taverna of the hotel to indicate guests had arrived. No one came to the door. He went a second time - no one came as we stood in the street with luggage. I rang the bell that I then saw and a staff member came to the door. Check in wasn’t welcoming, friendly nor informative. He took our passports and gave us a room key and showed us the elevator. No explanation about breakfast, wi fi, parking, nothing. When we dropped off our luggage to head to the taverna it was apparent we had interrupted his dinner!||The taverna is beautiful. Food was very good. However our waiter without asking charged our meal in our own currency rather than euros which is a benefit to the taverna and certainly not to us. |Overall the hotel is beautiful but I wouldn’t stay again as there is no...
Read moreWe had a fabulous stay in this authentic beautiful hotel. |I loved the linen sheets and the towels were lovely and plush. The rooms are very comfortable and the mosaic bathroom tiles are exquisite. ||The food in the tavern was excellent. |Breakfast was lovely once it was understood what we wanted each day.||A couple of negatives ...|We had to ask for a chair so that my husband could sit at the desk to use his laptop.||The pillows were all flat . An assortment of pillows on a meu would have been preferable .||There was a rain shower which is good for hair washing days. I prefer a shower coming from the wall , however, this one was attached half way down the wall. It would have been perfect if it had been attached further up so you could stand under it. Even though the bath looked aesthetically pleasing I did not find it practical to climb in and out. Especially with mobility issues.||These issues did not detract us from having a lovely stay. This hotel is absolutely worth considering. ||Thank you for a...
Read moreThe best hotels are family owned and operated and this one is no exception. There were three generations on deck. They and the other staff were kind and helpful. Signor Basilio gave me a tour of the wine tunnel labyrinth under the hotel which was fascinating. Don’t be fooled by the rustic construction of this hotel such as exposed beams. Everything about it is quality. From the heavy cutlery and glassware in the restaurant to monogrammed linen sheets on the bed and Bulgari toiletries. The bathroom deserves a special mention, quality fittings and beautiful marble and mosaics. The hot water and water pressure were outstanding. And not a drop of water on the floor. I’ve had many an Italian experience where shower water floods into the bathroom. Special mention to Matteo on reception and the lovely Hungarian cleaner whose name I missed but who combined forces to help me with recommendations and logistics, which is essential if you’re travelling on your own in Italy and without a car. Can’t...
