A Hidden Gem That Feels Like Home

As a solo female traveler running my consultancy business from my laptop, finding places that feel both inspiring and safe is everything. Fondi the Bistro has become that sanctuary for me. I’ve spent most of my days here during my time in Rome, and I can honestly say—it’s been one of the highlights of my journey.

From the moment I walked in, I was embraced with a warmth that’s hard to put into words. The staff are absolute gems—Maya, Nico, Massimo, Gianmarco, and every single person (whose name I wish I had written down!) have shown such genuine kindness, making me feel not like a customer, but like family.

The interiors are stunning—elegantly designed spaces that make working (and daydreaming) a joy. And let’s talk about the desserts: like little pastry jewels, endless in variety and dangerously delicious. Their food, coffee, cocktails, and music—especially in the evenings—come together to create an atmosphere that always delivers, whether you’re working solo, meeting friends, or just soaking in the vibes.

From strangers to friends, Fondi has been the unexpected heart of my Roman experience. I’ve absolutely fallen in love with their Grottaferrata location (though they also have one in Frascati, if you're nearby!).

This is a place not to miss. Come for the food, stay...

I came to visit this place before I picked up my son from school... just to try the desserts I wanted to order through Glovo, then I also ordered caffè americano... I've tried the cheesecake and tiramisu, I prefer the tiramisu over cheesecake... the cheesecake isn't the kind of cheesecake... I would recommend the tiramisu... it's perfect and delicious...😊 I liked the mixed music in the background while sitting there and drinking coffee... after visiting this place and trying the desserts, I ordered 3 tiramisu online (Glovo) for myself... So I ate them after dinner and lunch... yummy... the staff are nice... the camerieri sono simpatici and approachable 😊 except for one or two who seemed to have an awful day and seemed like they didn't like to see my face... you know that look they're giving you that sent away the customers, but I stayed 😅 but overall, Fondi gives the best service, accommodating and respectful, relaxing ambiance... it's not your typical bar or...

Come detto al personale e al direttore, l'errore ci può stare, ma mi trovo a scrivere questa recensione molto negativa perché pur essendo rimasto senza cena, non è stato fatto nessun atto concreto e dimostrativo di scuse. Dopo aver atteso 1 ora dalla cosumazione dall'antipasto, all'arrivo del piatto ordinato come prima portata (finito di mangiare antipasto ore 20.50, arrivo altra portata ore 21.50) e dopo diversi solleciti, il mio hamburger arriva al limite del crudo, pur avendolo chiesto ben cotto, ma soprattutto praticamente freddo così come le patate che lo accompagnavano. Faccio presente e la signora insiste per farmi riprepare il piatto, rispondo che non intendo aspettare un'altra ora e che non lo voglio più, dato che mi era sinceramente passata la fame, lei insiste ancora e allora rispondo, ok allora portami cortesemente una margherita (avevo notato che le pizze arrivavano sugli altri tavoli molto più velocemente). Passa altro tempo e alle 22 passate (eravamo arrivati come da prenotazione alle 20.30) ecco che la cameriera si presenta con un nuovo piatto con hamburger e patate, praticamente aveva completamente ignorato la mia richiesta della pizza e Lei aveva deciso che dovessi mangiare l'hamburger, del quale io non avevo più la benché minima voglia. Comunque lascio stare, lo taglio a metà e stavolta, oltre le solite patate fredde (suppongo avessero riversato quelle del piatto precedente) l'hamburger era lievente scottato all'esterno e TOTALMENTE CRUDO ALL'INTERNO!!!!! A questo punto faccio presente, viene il direttore che vuole farmi rifare per la terza volta il piatto!!!! Dico un NO netto e che alle 22.30 io non avevo assolutamente più intenzione di cenare o attendere oltre per farlo. Si sono scusati molto e umanamente ho accettato le scuse. Ma dopo avermi lasciato senza cena di sabato sera, per recuperare, il direttore mi ha chiesto se potesse offrirmi un dolce o un caffè (io avevo mangiato solo mezzo antipasto spizzicato), ringrazio e declino; lui ci accompagna gentilmente in cassa e ci fanno PAGARE L' ANTIPASTO E IL PRIMO COMSUMATI, specificando che però toglievano l'hamburger! E avrei voluto vedere. Cari Signori, ovviamente non è per i soldi, ma dopo attese infinite per mangiare un semplice hamburger, servitomi per 2 volte FREDDO E CRUDO E LASCIANDOMI DI FATTO SENZA CENA DI SABATO SERA (perché io ceno alle 20, alle 21 massimo se vado fuori, non di certo alle 22.30) non sarebbe stato un atto dimostrativo di reali scuse dire, ok offriamo noi quelle due portate che avete preso?? Non era la prima volta che ci andavo, mai mi sarei aspettato un comportamento simile, mi sembrava un posto con un qualcosa in più, ma a quanto pare.. hanno contato più 2 spicci che voler realmente recuperare e mantenere dei clienti.
