Wow, what an absolutely lovely experience at Ca Leon. The owner provided us all directions for the apartment via whatsapp so entry codes were easily accessible upon our return each night. Check in was easy and smooth - especially since we arrived later than expected. It was an absolutely spotless room (with a very comfortable bed) and a balcony with the most spectacular view. Turnover was done for us even though we were only a two night stay which was a lovely surprise. I cannot believe people said that the 3€ breakfast should have had more variety - the buffet selection was ENORMOUS. Multiple cornetti, pastries, cereal, focaccia, coffee, juice, milk, and confitures. I honestly thought it was underpriced. We got to bring breakfast onto our balconies which was a beautiful way to start the day. The only inconvenient part for a lazy person like me is the walk up to the hotel which was a bit of a trek and if you're a single woman, you have to walk by some uncomfortable areas to get down to the center (20 minutes to train station, 30 to city center). In couple it's no concern at all. But I would honestly much rather stay in this location than in La Spezia center anyway. There is a bus down the hill if you need it. The owner also speaks multiple languages which is a rarity in Italy (and I'm Italian). She was so lovely that if I could give this five more stars, I would. Oh, and parking is free in front of the building on the street. And if you're coming from the train station either let the hotel know or take a taxi (too difficult with luggage as...
Read moreGreat spot in La Spezia. The staff is more than accommodating, very nice and willing to help out any way possible. The 4€ breakfast is pastries, the worlds greatest Focaccia, and coffee… well worth the small fee. The rooms are great, wonderful views, very clean, and a generous size for Europe. About a 20 minute walk to the train station. The bus that comes up the hill doesn’t run often, but down on the Main Street the 1/14 runs every 10 minutes, which is a good option if you don’t want to walk. Taxis are also available to and from the Train station for €8-12. Overall would stay here again, quiet, comfortable and a great home base for...
Read moreLocation: There is a bus station right next door (Bus Line 24 to La Spezia Central Station) but with a very low frequency (almost every 2 hours). So be careful if you don't have a car/motorcycle because you have to climb a very steep slope to access the nearest bus station to go to La Spezia Central Station (Bus lines 1 and 14) which is not feasible with the high temperatures of August and also with suitcases. Owner: The lady is helpful and friendly. View: The view from the balcony is...
