This hotel is really at best an average bed and breakfast but is not priced as such. In summary, hotel with nice view and garden outside of lipari town, but that does not have enough positives to outweigh the negatives of the establishment. Hosts do not show much interest or skill at running the establishment so we can only assume they recently took it over from someone who made it successful and it will slowly slip in standards unless they up their game. ||Positives - nice garden (although a bit dirty - plastic cups, paper napkins littered on edges so could do with a bit more love but at first sight impressive flowery bushes and nice courtyard), lovely view of the town below you, spacious rooms with character (wooden etc...), nice courtyard, cleanliness of rooms is decent, good wifi||Negatives - 1 - it is a hike up a hill to the hotel from town which over time gets annoying as you will end up doing it a couple of times a day and in the sweltering heat, it is unpleasant, 2 - breakfast is not great (too much on offer but a lot of it is not fresh (eg we saw same chocolate cake 3 days in a row untouched as we were pretty much only guests at the time), artificial juices served in plastic cups, croissants in cellophane etc... Only nice items were supermarket yoghurt, fresh bread roll and fruits), 3 - the hosts are nice enough (but a bit strange and not particularly helpful) and very limited services that you would expect from a "hotel" (eg no laundry or pick up service from the port, plastic sachets of cheap shampoo in the bathroom, etc,) 4- it is false advertising to claim there is a tennis court (refer to the photo of the court with overgrown grass and its...
Read moreWhat a charming hotel with spectacular views perched up on a hillside on Lipari. The flowers on the grounds were as spectacular as the view. Breakfast on the patio with the beautiful views was delightful. 2 of our party had to leave early before breakfast was served.....the management arranged to have the breakfast set up early to accommodate them. The paintings by the Swiss artist Hunzinger adorned the room. The property had originally been a compound higher on the hill that his original home at bit farther down the hill and converted to a hotel. If you inform them regarding your arrival time they will pick you up at the port and transport back to the port at the end of your stay. You could easily buy bread, fruit, cheese, meat and wine and make a wonderful meal with the spectacular views on the patio. The room is not fancy but has everything you need....and why would you stay in your room rather than outside on the patios....there were several. ||Take the hydrofoil from Messina, which runs about every hour on the hour during the summer to get to Lipari. And the cost of the hotel was so very...
