Maison Ro' — Hotel in Meta

Located a 10 minute walk from Meta Railway station in one direction and the beach area in another, Maison Ro provides easy access to the vibrant centre of Sorrento, without the crowds. This B & B is hidden behind a traditional big door on a narrow cobbled street in this historic village. Behind the door is a small internal courtyard and the stairs that lead to the accommodation. The welcome from Francesco, the owner, was very warm, enthusiastic and genuine. From the word "Go" you know that he wants to look after you. Our room was one of the smaller ones available, but was very clean and bright with an efficient air conditioning system, TV and a superb, spotless bathroom with a huge modern walk-in shower. It all looked brand new. The comfortable King Sized bed was complimented with an easy chair and a simple wardrobe. Shutters were installed to keep out the sun. ||There is a huge communal kitchen for the use of guests. This is where Francesco laid out breakfast every morning and provided cakes and biscuits for a small afternoon snack. Breakfast was basic, but more than adequate, Three different cereals, bread for toast, cheeses, sliced meats and traditional cakes were all in plentiful supply. Milk, fruit and juices were in the fridge. A coffee machine and a kettle were in the bright, airy dining area that lead on to the good sized terrace overlooking the road at the front of the building. The road was generally quiet, but during the weekday 'rush-hour' there were a few enthusiastically ridden scooters whizzing past. The terrace is furnished with a variety of chairs, including some comfy cushioned for relaxing and some for eating at the tables. Some noise can be heard from the bells from a nearby church if you sleep with open windows. It's not too obtrusive. Francesco is rightly proud of his B & B which has an authentic Italian appeal. He is a wonderful character and was eager to go the extra mile to help out...

Much more than a B&B: the perfect stay, the perfect host. Francesco is really the best host ever: very attentive to customer needs, always professional and dedicated to his job. The beach in Meta is even more beautiful than Sorrento's, the town is conveniently located near the Circumvesuviana railway which takes you to all major archaeological sites: Pompeii. Herculaneum and Stabiae. Local buses reach Sorrento in 30 minutes (buy tickets at tobacconist's shops or on board, slightly more expensive). Maison Ro' is on the first floor of a lovely historical building with private garden, rooms are beautifully decorated, guests may use the kitchen whenever needed and Francesco even leaves some snacks for the day. Would definitely return! A suggestion: the safe is small and portable, it should be fixed to the wall.

Non mi piace in genere recensire gli alloggi quando viaggio perché in fondo le aspettative sono molto personali, tuttavia non posso non menzionare Francesco che è stato il perfetto padrone di casa, sempre pronto a venire incontro alle esigenze dei suoi ospiti. Maison Ro' è un B&B molto carino situato al primo piano di un bellissimo edificio storico vicino alle spiagge di Meta, raggiungibili a piedi o con l'ascensore (costa attualmente 50 centesimi). Ci sono lembi di spiaggia libera oppure strutture convenzionate col B&B, nelle vicinanze si trovano dei supermercati e la fermata del bus verso Sorrento. Meta è una cittadina di mare, vicina ai siti archeologici più famosi della Campania, con poca vita notturna almeno per quello che abbiamo potuto notare (ma che comunque non cercavamo). Si sta proprio come a casa, sicuramente un posto da consigliare. Suggeriamo solamente di fissare la cassaforte al muro perché piccola e facilmente trasportabile, per il resto tutto ottimo... speriamo di...

😊: Modernes Zimmer mit kleiner Minibar als Kühlschrank, modernes Bad, alles sehr sauber und großzügig geschnitten. Das Zimmer hatte einen kleinen Balkon und ein Wäschereck. Schallgeschützte Fenster (gegen die Kirchenglocken 24/7) und Klimaanlage. Die Gastgeber stellen in der Küche und im Frühstücksraum ein kleines Frühstück zur Verfügung (abgepacktes Gebäck, Zwieback, Saft, Tee, Kaffee, Espresso). Wer frisch mit Joghurt, Obst und frischen Brötchen frühstücken will, kann einen Zuschlag bezahlen oder... einfach selbst einkaufen gehen! Angelica und Francesco (allerliebst) stellen die Küche inkl. Herd und Kühlschrank allen Gästen zur Verfügung, so dass man sich auch einfach selbst versorgen kann. Die Terrasse vor dem Frühstücksraum ist zauberhaft und in der Regel haben wir dort unser Abendbrot mit Melone, Schinken, Brot, Mozzarella und Tomaten selbst zubereitet. Einige Gäste haben sich morgens Omelett gebraten. Der Supermarkt Crai ist klein, aber gut sortiert, der Bäcker liegt auf der anderen Straßenseite 20 Meter weiter, nicht erkennbar, da kein Schild an der grünen Tür, Einfach morgens der Nase nachgehen und frische Hörnchen und Brötchen kaufen.
Meta ist eng und verwinkelt, wer mit dem Mietauto kommt, sollte sich ein kleines Auto holen. Bei der ersten Anfahrt zum Haus habe ich Panik bekommen, ob der Lancia Ypsilon durchkommt, beim zweiten Mal habe ich die Spiegel nicht mehr eingeklappt, beim dritten Mal bin ich durchgerauscht wie eine Neopolitanerin ;-). Die Autos können für 10 EUR am Tag auf dem Grundstück sicher und abgeschlossen geparkt werden.
Der Bahnhof ist 800 Meter zu Fuß in knapp 15 Minuten zu erreichen. Es gehen alle 20 Minuten Bahnen nach Napoli (auf dieser Strecke: Pompei - direkt am Bahnhof, Ercolano - Shuttle zum Vesuvio) und Sorrento. Nach Sorrento sind es drei Stationen und die einfache Fahrt kostet im Juli 2023 pro Person 1,40 EUR. Ich würde das Maison RO gerne zu jedem meiner zukünftigen Urlaubsorte mitnehmen!. 😢: Der Strand ist nur über viele Treppen zu erreichen, da Meta (wie auch Sorrento) auf einem Hochtableau liegen und der Aufzug ist außer Betrieb. Der Strand ist aber nicht sehr schön, eng und bevölkert und klar, wer sein Handtuch ablegen will hat eigentlich keine Chance dies zu tun ohne eine Liege zu mieten. Vielleicht muss man sich bewusst machen, dass der Golf von Neapel nicht die erste Adresse für Badeurlaub ist. Wer die Küstenstraße nach Amalfi fahren möchte, von Sorrent ein Boot nach Capri nehmen will, den Vesuvio besteigen (VORRESERVIEREN!) oder Pompei bestaunen will, ist hier genau richtig, denn so unglaublich das klingt, von Meta aus kommt man überall hin! Ja, mit den Kindern kann man durchaus mal nach der Tagestour auch eine Runde im Meer schwimmen gehen, die Badetasche am Rand vom Strand abstellen, sie kam nicht weg, war allerdings außer Handtücher auch echt...
