I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, had some problem with before staying in this hotel, such as lastminute.com trying to send me to another hotel because they couldn't confirm this hotel was open, but i knew the hotel was open because i emailed them before. So i was having it and tried everything i could to stay in hotel venini. Mainly because of the location, its close to the central train station 20 minutes to be precised the closest you're gonna get for a cheap price. There are some cheap restaurants around mainly chinese and italian based, some big shops near by. The other hotel was very badly located, 40 minutes away from the central train station and closer to the cathedral meaning no cheap restaurants. But all this confusion was due to coronavirus. But the worst was yet to come when we found out about city tax something that is common in italy but nowhere on the internet warns you about. In Milan it is €4 per night for 3 star hotels and below and €5 for 4 and 5 star hotels. This caught us of guard expecially when we were staying for 16 nights and had to pay €65. When we went it was a room serviced breakfast that was a form you filled out the night before. You could tick as much as you want as long as it fitted on the tray they brought up in the morning. The breakfast was great, toast, boiled eggs, omlet, muffins, lemon cake, chocolate cake, fruit cake, cereals. The drinks were, orange juice, apricot juice, coffee but small cups not like the british or americans like, tea and hot chocolate. The menu was changing everyday. The first couple of days i was enjoying the hot chocolate until they started charging €3 for it. Sometimes stuff was taken off the menu then was back on. It was on time almost all the time. But all these complaints is due to the pandemic if it wasn't i wouldn't be complaining. The hotel is very clean inside and out, they make the beds and change the towels regularly. The hotel staff were very friendly and talkitive especially the guy who worked the night shifts. The room we had had the biggest balcony, some of the other rooms don't have balconies. I would recommend this hotel, but probably best to wait when the...
Read moreFront desk lady was unfriendly when I arrived to drop off my bags before checking in later. Room is fairly clean but has some major issues: (i) the shower doesn't have any space for you to put soap, extremely inconvenient (ii) has blackout blinds instead of curtains which makes it impossible to block out sun and ventilate the room at the same time (iii) first night it was hot so I asked for the AC to be turned on and they refused. When I complained the following morning (monday) the guy working the front desk said that it's the city of Milan that decides when AC can be turn on. Said it will be on by monday. Then later when I realized it was already Monday I asked him again and he said it'll be on Tuesday... Feels like I'm being lied to. Moreover, sleeping with the windows open is not an option nor useful because almost no air can get through with the blackout blinds and it's very noisy outside with trams passing by frequently. It's just ridiculous that they don't have the AC on as it's hot during the day (28 degrees) and the heat just accumulates in the room (my room faced west and was on the highest floor). Even after opening the windows for hours it's still very hot and suffocating. Way too hot for sleeping!!! And even uncomfortable during waking hours. Shame on the owners for lying about there being AC on their website! On Tuesday night there's still zero AC. Just lots of heat and humidity.
Location is ok as it's close to a metro station (rovereto) and has a grocery story nearby (Conad). Front desk speaks very little english so I don't recommend this place for anyone who doesn't speak italian. Walls are paper thin and you can hear everything your neighbours say/do. Windows aren't soundproof either and even when closed you can hear the tram loudly passing through. Breakfast is ok but the front desk lady keeps staring at you the whole time, making things awkward. Owner doesn't add more meat (prosciutto cotto) unless you...
Read morePros: very clean, ok breakfast, very near a supermarket, a tram stop, bus stop and metro station. Not too far from the central station. The bed was very firm - not great for me but suited my husband perfectly, so it's all down to personal preference. We had a room with a window to the rear of the building, and could hear the trams but weren't disturbed by them. The bathroom was very clean as well, and we had no complaints about the room itself. ||However, I find myself unable to get over our first impression of the hotel. We'd booked and pre-paid a room for two adults and a three-year-old through hotels.com. On arrival, the staff angrily told us that the room we'd booked was for two people only. (Apparently Lombardy has strict laws about how many people can occupy a certain number of square metres.)||It was very warm, we were tired from walking and hungry (obviously not the hotel's fault...) which made it even more upsetting to be greeted with the news that our booking was void and that we apparently (?) should have realized this ourselves. (Never mind that our booking expressly stated "two adults, one child".) After what felt like endless arguing with the quite unfriendly and un-service-minded staff, who spoke next to no English, I was ready to leave and look for something else, and let hotels.com handle the refund. However, the proprietress grudgingly offered a bigger room if we paid an extra 100€ for our (five-night) stay. We were as mentioned really tired and hungry (including the three-year-old) and so we didn't have the energy to leave and find another place for the five nights we'd booked and pre-paid...||For our needs, the room was nice enough and the hotel itself was fine. The location isn't great, but convenient for public transport. If the staff hadn't initially been so unpleasant, we'd probably have graded higher (and once our "dispute" was settled by us paying them more money, they were...
