We were in Naples for one night prior to catching a flight the next morning and chose the Grand Hotel Parker's based upon the reviews for service, terrace views and the restaurant reviews. |We were initially placed in a room that was apparently below the restaurant. When we checked in the noise from above was loud enough that we asked the gentleman who showed us to our room what was going on above us...was it construction or was it something that would continue throughout the stay? He assured us it was temporary and something that did not happen ofter and would not be an issue. The noise continued while we settled in. We went for a drink upstairs on the terrace and came back and hour later...the noise continued. We went for a long walk to explore and returned and the noise was louder than it had been previously. I went to the front desk to inquire what was going on and if this was going to stop since we thought it was construction on the floor above us and now it was after 5:00 pm. I was informed by a blonde haired front desk worker whose name I don't remember but whose poor attitude I do remember since she sighed and was curt when I asked about the noise..that it was not construction but the restaurant and she would call up to them to tell them to stop. It did not stop. I called down too ask for someone to come upstairs to hear what we were listening to and spoke to same woman ( I know this since she sighed again and her attitude was loud and clear) and was told someone would be up to the room. I can not believe we are the only people to ever mention the noise from above since it was from the restaurant and must happen continuely. I only mentioned the issue with the woman at the front desk since it was so out of place among all the other professional staff we encountered. Her attitude and demeanor were completely off putting and out of context to all the other staff and level of service during our brief stay. She needs some of the same training the other staff members have had if she is going to continue to be customer facing.||Here is where the hotel's service became outstanding. The front desk manager came up and apologized for the issue and informed us that the were moving to a new room. He was professional and kind and moved us to a fantastic room on the 3rd floor away from the noise. The room was fantastic and the issue was resolved.|We had a fantastic meal on the terrace for our last night in Italy. Our waitress was fabulous and engaging. We had a wonderful sleep to be fully rested to start our long journey home and breakfast was lovely. The issue at the beginning of the stay had been forgotten and we said we would be back if we were ever in Naples again. |I would highly recommend this hotel and believe it has to be one of the best views from the terrace in...
Read moreThe good: The hotel is objectively very beautiful and well designed. We stayed in a renovated deluxe room with view of the water and a nice balcony. The bed was pretty comfortable and the bathroom was very nice with his/her sinks. I also enjoyed the scents of the toiletries. Breakfast was tasty with many options and a great view of the water from the 6th floor. We also ate in the bistro and our food and drinks were both very good.
The bad: The main issue that we had while staying here for 3 nights was the bathtub. After walking all around Naples and Capri, we wanted to come back to the room and take a clean shower. Instead, we had to shower standing in our own filth because the drain did not work properly. It was much too slow for even the lowest water flow rate. We spoke to the front desk on 3 occasions and were assured that the issue would be resolved. I finally contacted Hyatt (we booked through their partnership with SLH) who then spoke with the front desk manager. The manager said that he "thought that the issue had been resolved" and that he would "check on it again to see if he can get it taken care of." We checked out with the shower never having been fixed. Had this been resolved on our first or even second attempt, I would not have thought twice about giving Grand Hotel Parker's a much better review.
A smaller issue we had was that while checking in, we were given a piece of paper (voucher) and told that because we booked through Hyatt, we were welcome to a complimentary drink in the bistro. We ate at the bistro for dinner that night and when we handed over the voucher, they had no idea what it was and told us we were not being given a complimentary drink. I spoke to the front desk and they apologized for the confusion, but that there was no free drink. Instead, they offered a bottle of prosecco, which we never received either.
I simply cannot recommend paying so much to stay in a luxury hotel where guests complaints are not taken seriously. Please view the pictures to see what we had...
