Everything at this chalet is basic and screams of penny pinching. There is no atmosphere. Rooms are very plain and devoid of creature comforts, no TV, thin loo rolls, lino on the floor, lightbulbs not working. Our bathroom was mouldy, the grout hadn’t been cleaned for ages and there were cobwebs above the balcony door. It looks like a place schools would use for activity holidays. The food is like school dinners and we ended up going out to eat in the evenings as good food is part of the holiday for us. I notified the Frohsinn that I’m vegan months in advance, was told it wasn’t a problem and paid a €20 surcharge. However breakfast on the first morning for me was dry toast and a slice of tomato. They hadn’t got any vegan spread, soya yoghurts or other options and I ended up going out to buy my own. When I queried this Jude seemed surprised and asked what I ate as if dry bread was oerfectly adequate. She said that other vegans who’d stayed only ate fruit!!?? The second day they had bought some spread and yoghurt but we did have to keep asking for things which is embarrassing and made me feel like a huge inconvenience. Nothing is offered. We only found by chance that they had a nearly empty jar of peanut butter and marmite for everyone to share and had to keep asking for them, we got so excited about these! There was one hot option per day at breakfast but not for vegans. You also have to clear your own table and scrape your plates. Afternoon cakes were ok, dinner was poor and included soggy veg (frozen not fresh).|There are sofas in the dining area but obviously you’re not allowed to sit on them in the mornings as they are barricaded with bar stools. This just looked so unwelcoming. I got the feeling that the staff just wanted to get out on the slopes as soon as possible and that guests were just an inconvenience. I certainly felt like a major inconvenience. We were also told to vacate our rooms by 9am on the last day, instead of the advertised 9.30am which is still early.|The only plus point is its position on the slope but I would much rather have a five minute walk and stay at a proper hotel to be honest. I’ve stayed at a couple of other hotels in San Cassiano and they were much more accommodating, comfortable and better equipped to look after guests! And weren’t really any...

Read moreOf course, first of all: it's location. The guesthouse is located on the piste (our favourite one!), yet still close to the centre of San Cassiano (1-2min walk to the first restaurant and 8-10 minutes to the main street). We spotted the premises while skiing during the previous season.||Albergo has a private parking with enough slots to accommodate all guests' cars. The room was cozy, clean and comfortably furnished. The only issue was a number of shelves in the wardrobe (too few), but it seems it's a common problem in the hotels.||Bathroom was really basic, but very clean and spacious enough.||The accommodation comes together with catering, except one evening - the idea of which we liked, as we could explore the town and nearby restaurants. ||Food was tasty and in good variety. There was always hot option for breakfast and the evening before you had choices to chose from presented for a next dinner. The portions were big enough to make you sigh when the dessert was being served ;) I would add vegetables to the breakfast buffet, but it seems it's just cuisine differences. Water and wine for a dinner without additional fee were a bonus (I was really glad we didn't have to pay for that as usually it sums up to a significant amount at the end of your stay). ||We liked the common space with sofas, board games and we enjoyed afternoon tea as well as home-made cakes (yummy).||The hosts Jude and Sittah created family atmosphere and the whole staff was really helpful and accommodating.||The ski-room was very conveniently located so you could put on warmed ski-boots and you were simply directly on the piste.||I'm including some photos of our room, but forgive the quality - those are print screens from a video. ||To sum up: our expectations were exceeded and we will be glad to come back next year. If you don't expect 5* resort and SPA, but cozy guesthouse ideal for best skiing experience - you won't be...
