Hotel Italia — Hotel in Pustertal - Val Pusteria

Spent a week at the hotel and loved it. Rooms were comfortable and view was lovely. The environment was cozy and homey. We booked for the spa and other amenities which we enjoyed.

We arrived in a group of 6 with 3 rooms booked, all of us with ski gear, but the lovely person checking us in, who was very kind, was not very informative. We were not told about the gear storage room, procedure of coming in and out of the hotel with ski gear, or even the easiest way to access the lifts. All which would have been great things to know and made our trip much better.

Breakfast was decent and included. Could have been better as they did not restock items once they were finished (like the apple strudel). Would have loved to see more fresh fruit items and fresh made sweets instead of the commercial ones like many other hotels of this caliber that we’ve stayed at in Italy.

The gear room with heated boot was is awesome, it was just too bad no one told us about it and its location so we didn’t find out about it until the day of check out.

The rooms were really well heated, which is great for most people, but we needed to keep our window cracked so we weren’t too hot, which was actually very enjoyable.

Stay: 24 nights in Feb-Mar 2024. Great value right in the heart of the vast & beautiful Alta Badia ski region. Liked it so much I'm returning next year. ||Staff: English speaking, very friendly & helpful.||Room: Single, on 1st floor.|Desk with power point. Bedside table with power outlet. Plenty of wardrobe space.|Excellent sleep quality. Curtains fully covered windows, quiet location although right on road.||Amenities: In-room safe, small fridge (empty). Supermarket a minutes walk around the corner.||Bathroom: Decent size, basic toiletries, thick towels including face washers, stand-alone shower, bidet.||Wellness: Whirlpool and 12m pool, plus various saunas. Plenty of loungers. Open from 1pm to 7pm.||TV: No English-speaking channels.|WiFi: Free, with no password nor site blocking. Worked fine, stayed connected.||Breakfast: Poached and scrambled eggs, plus typical Continental style spread.|Dinner: Choice of soup, pasta dish, main course and dessert. Very clean place, but rooms lacked 'soul' - plastic wood, 'Ikea furnishing. Swimming pool and spa area was lovely. The dining area was tired and old fashioned. We had half board and the food was not nice at all. Odd combinations of food on the menu. You were forced to select your evening meal at breakfast which I really didn't like. The quality of the food and its preparation was variable - one evening we had a pork dish that was cold and uncooked in the centre, another evening we had pasta which was almost inedible because it was over salted. Breakfast had a good choice of stuff but it was all quite poor quality food badly prepared, overboiled grey yolk eggs, cold bacon and lukewarm fried eggs. There was one coffee machine for 60 guests so queuing for coffee was the norm. Orange juice was straight from a bottle. This property had a good location a nice bar area and the staff were very friendly and helpful but it was really let down by the awful food - so much so, that we ate out on two evenings out of 4 because we didn't want to eat in the Italia...
