My stay here was uncomfortable enough that I feel compelled to share. The experience was, frankly, unpleasant because of a persistent hostility that colored the entire stay.
The female staff member I interacted with, in particular, seemed intent on making things difficult. My husband briefly dropped something off and left, and shortly after, I was visited in my room by the front desk woman who repeated — no exaggeration — the same sentence about needing everyone’s documents at least ten times in a row. I explained that he would provide his ID when he returned, as he wasn’t even on the premises. Still, she continued, looping the same phrase with an unnerving insistence. It felt less like a request and more like a power play — as though she was trying to provoke or unsettle me for reasons I genuinely don’t understand.
When I later asked for fresh towels, I was told no — because I hadn’t requested a full room cleaning. I don’t understand how merely giving me fresh towels should be more work than cleaning my entire room, and why I was being punished for not wanting a room clean. Again, the tone was not merely policy-driven but punitive.
The physical environment didn’t do much to compensate. The bed was uncomfortably firm, the pillows were both limp and lumpy, and the sheets were scratchy. The lighting in the room was harsh and clinical — bright white bulbs that felt more suited to a dentist’s office than a guest room.
All in all, I wouldn’t return, and I wouldn’t recommend it to others who are hoping for even a basic level of...
Read moreI really hate giving a less than stellar review of a hotel where the staff were welcoming and charming, but I want to be honest. It is a lovely, quiet hotel on a side street, not far from the piazza and the sea. It is easy to find by walking, but because of one-way streets and streets that don’t go through, it was not easy to navigate. We had heavy luggage, so I asked for a first floor room, as there is no elevator. The room was very tired. We love old ambience, but this room did not have quaint, antique charm. My husband said he saw nicer rooms but we did not have one. The air conditioning did not work. We were told they were going to fix it, but did not while we were there. It was good we had a strong overhead fan. The shower tiles were clean, but did not look it, as they must have been original. The building was a beautiful one, but the interior was not well decorated for the elegance of the building. The breakfast was basic and not indicative of the other four star hotels we stayed in. The pictures on the travel sites are deceiving. We have stayed in beautiful hotels in Marina di Ragusa and wanted to try this. I have no idea how it got a 4 star rating because our experience was of a 2 star. As I said, the proprietors are lovely, so was housekeeping, but they need to think about fixing it up. It was costlier than some of the nicer ones. We will choose one of the...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here for 10 days in the second part of September. “Maison de Charme” is a very suitable description as the hotel was exactly that, perfectly charming! From the greeting we received on our somewhat late arrival to the sad farewells on our last morning we had an absolutely delightful stay at La Moresca. The hotel itself has a lovely character and is very pleasant and comfortable. It’s best feature, however, is undoubtedly the people who work there. They work together like a family and you are immediately made to feel like a part of that family. Fabrizio, the excellent hotel manager; Rosella, Sofia and Oriana, who were all so helpful and friendly on the reception desk; Alessandro and Elisa, who prepared breakfast in the morning and aperitifs in the evening; Laura and Maria, the housekeepers who kept the hotel looking immaculate – all of these individuals made staying at La Moresca a joy. ...
