Cristal — Hotel in Roccaraso

Hotel Cristal is a wonder place to stay any time of year. It is situated just outside Roccaraso and short drive to the smaller village of Pietransieri, Italy. We know the area is a popular ski resort to which Hotel Cristal is perfectly suited and situated but staying there is quite enjoyable any time of the year; especially during festival events that occur in both towns throughout.|| ||Antonio, Ernestina with their daughter Valentina operate the hotel. They are very friendly and accommodating hosts. || ||If you have your meals in the hotel restaurant, you will find delightful meals of varied Italian and Abruzzo specialties; all prepared under watchful eyes of Ernestina. The dining area is spacious and has room for just about any number of family and or friends for dinner.|| ||The rooms are also spacious and have all the necessary amenities. Most rooms have double doors opening onto a small balcony. || ||Outside the restaurant is a large dining, sitting or lounging area. It took us a while to find the hotel as it wasn't where Google was showing it to be and it wasn't lit up at night so we kept missing it. Once inside the staff were really really helpful despite our complete lack of Italian and their broken English. The room was clean and functional but the mattresses were beyond belief - I've never slept on anything harder even when camping. This was a shame to an otherwise interesting hotel - food was fine, service good. We had booked the hotel because of its roof hot tub however it wasn't open in February which was a shame. I would recommend the hotel, but it's not within working distance of Roccaraso so if you want more nightlife stay...

Hotel non da 4 stelle. Datato, vecchio, obsoleto, pulizia che lascia a desiderare. Acqua calda che esce a orari. Materassi che se avessi dormito qualche altra notte mi sarei dovuto operare di ernia del disco. Servizio ristorante allucinante. Colazione solo dolce con cornetti vuoti, torte e crostate che non si capisce cosa sono. Cereali stantii, ma anche a volerli prendere non c' è un recipiente per metterceli e qualora ci fosse il recipiente non hai il latte da versare, perché a colazione in questo hotel non c' è né latte e né caffè. Ti servono un cappuccino misero e un caffè se proprio lì metti alle strette (infatti l' ultimo giorno abbiamo chiesto due caffè e non sono mai arrivati, stufi ce ne siamo andati). La colazione salata inesistente. Due fette di prosciutto e formaggio raggrinzite. Ho chiesto delle uova il primo giorno e prima mi è stato detto che non si potevano fare e poi il cameriere me le ha fatte. Al secondo giorno non le ho chieste perché mi rompe chiedere in un quattro stelle delle uova, dorebbero già esserci. Al terzo giorno però, di fronte all' ennesima crostata e fagottini le ho richieste. Per quanto riguarda pranzo e cena, i piatti come porzione sono (secondo loro) porzioni gourmet. Le porzioni gourmet si fanno per cibo gourmet per esperienze culinarie e spesso in menù degustazione, ma qui non è niente di tutto ciò. Materie prime fuori stagione (ho mangiato asparagi), cotte male, con porzioni che scimmiottano le gourmet solo per risparmiare (la prima sera la mia porzione era inferiore a quella che preparo a mio figlio di nove mesi, e non è iperbole credetemi). La "cosa bella" è che appena entri in sala c'è un buffet con contorni, questi lo trovi lì a pranzo e a cena ogni giorno sono sempre gli stessi, in pieno stile anni 80, nonostante siano passati 40 anni. Quando dovevo fare il check out non vedevo l'ora di andare via e non ritornerò mai più. L' anno scorso sono stato in un altro hotel di Roccaraso, a tre stelle, ma me ne sono andato felice, e probabilmente tornerò lì la prossima volta, mai...
