Got charged 50 euro for checking in "after hours" despite there never being any kind of agreement that I would have to pay extra nor any information about hours of the "hotel".
We couldn't find the place because it's literally a suite in an apartment and there are no signs anywhere. So I called the guy to ask for directions and he says directions like "NO come THIS way!" and I start to ask what he means and he hangs up on me. The guy is shouting at me, no joke. Then I get a text from the guy that says "please call me". How's that for a welcome to Rome, my god.
The mattress is essentially a slab piece of foam and we spent the first night trying to kill all the bed bugs on it. We failed, my poor partner got covered with bed bug bites, including on her face.
Guy says that he'll change the sheets and what not half way, but he ended up doing it I think the night before we left. We got one towel and no foot towel so the shower floor was always gross and wet. Then we get our change of sheets and we get a foot towel. Ay ya. Did I mention all the little bugs that scatter in the bathroom when you turn the lights on?
The tram stops for this place around midnight so if you're staying out late be warned. We ended up walking back twice and it was a major screw around.
So yeah. It's not a hotel, not a bed and breakfast, and not a suite. It's a bug infested room in a pretty dingy apartment. A way for the property owner to subsidize his suite. And he kinda treats you like you're a total idiot and isn't afraid to shout at you.
We stay in cheap dingy places and sometimes they're charming or an adventure. This place is not charming or an adventure. It will add stress to your vacation. It's BARELY even a legitimate business. If you really don't care, then take this cheap option....
Read moreAlan was very friendly, and helpful. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting an authentic Italian experience, who wants to stay in/around Rome, and not have to pay a fortune. I am MORE than happy with what we got, it's certainly been a great experience and we got more than what we paid for. I am grateful to say the least. Clean room with balcony, free wifi, kitchen with all utensils you could need, all the needed amenities are all here. Furthermore the room is large and very European, the bed is comfy and just right for a...
