Betto e Mary is by far one of the best restaurants in Rome. Roman, and Italian cuisine is often generalized as 3 main dishes, Carbonara, Amatriciana, and Cacio e Pepe. None of these dishes are roman. Betto e Mary keeps the traditional roman cuisine alive.

It has a very unique experience, with a very traditional atmosphere and decorations. The service is exquisite, there is no printed menu, instead, the waiter takes you through the entire menu. The waitress serving us sat at our table and took us through all their offerings, offered us her recommendations when asked, and was generally a very pleasant and informal interaction. I wouldn't change a thing. I have the privilege of speaking Italian fluently, however, I did spot the waiters speaking English to non-italians, you have no excuse not to go. Even if you have to use some translating app.

The food itself is unbelievably good. Traditional roman cuisine is mostly horse and various organs and off-cuts. It sounds gross, but you have to go into it with an open mind. The biggest barrier you will face is your own mental barrier. This is one of the few restaurants I would recommend having a full 3-course meal, a first, a second, and a dessert (with a coffee or amaro). If you are open to trying new foods, I would recommend getting the Quinto-quarto second, which is a mix of the various off-cut dishes they serve. The house red wine from Frascati is by far the best red wine I have ever tried. If you can, get it.

The food itself is also very affordable, I ended up paying ~€33 p.p. for 3 people with 2 wines, 2 aperitivi, 3 first courses, a second course, 2 contorni, 2 desserts, and an amaro. Not even counting all the bread and water.

The restaurant is easy to get to, all you need to do is take the metro to Termini and take the 105 or FC1 to Filarete. From there it's a 3 minute walk.

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough to people that like to experiment with food, to tourists that want authentic Roman food, and Romans/Italians that feel like they have tried everything there is. As long as you are open to new foods, this is the...

This place was a huge surprise. You order meal by talking with waiter about food – no paper menu needed (there was no problem with English). First you get bottle of wine – red or white as you prefer. For apetizers (5 euro each) we got salad with horse meat, fried cauliflower and breaded fried cheese – everything delicious. For main we got beef steak (12 euro) – best thing I had in my whole life, if I ever be in Rome again, I’ll be there only for this steak, delicious, juicy (even I had it well done); spaghetti carbonara (10 euro) – big portion of fresh made pasta with lot of eggy sauce; meat on stick – great and freshly grilled. As side dish we had fried potatoes, very crispy. Restaurant service is amazingly kind and helpfpull. Decor like home, little bit chaotic and very friendly – no ties needed! Booking in the evening is necessary, because the restaurant fills up very...

There are times, when you wish you could give more stars. This place is one the best experiences I've ever had. We were taken here by our friend Eleonora. So if in Rome do as the Roman's do. Jump in cab and go to Betto and Mary. Tucked away in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Rome. You will see a crowd outside. Once inside make sure no ties, or credit cards. Your tie will be ripped off and displayed on wall. This is a hip no nonsense experience. Food is fabulous and the service is beyond any experience. No menus, guy comes over sits with you. Cracks some jokes. Then tells you what's on menu. Be adventurous !! Red head waiter truly deserves an applause. He's fantastic!!!
