I’ll start with the good stuff. The spa and pool are nice and clean. The rooms are modern and clean. The town was a perfect location to explore the region. The breakfast was ok. The juicer was a nice addition. The waiter named Laszlo did a great job. Now for the not so good. I was really disappointed in this hotel especially for the price we paid. First of all, most of the hotel staff were so rude. Anything you asked them, annoyed them. But the worst was the dinner. It was a 4 course dinner plus salad bar. The 4 courses were so bad. Tiny little portions not good at all. They combined weird flavors that didn’t work. The fish and pork were undercooked and when we asked them to cook it through, they wouldn’t do it and got really offended explaining how this is how they eat it in Italy. We ended up filling up on bread most nights. The head waiter, Pietro, was so rude. One night we ordered vegetable consumme soup for a course and they brought us a meat pasta dish instead. When I told Pietro we ordered the consumme, he went into the kitchen to check then came back and told us that the pasta they gave us is consumme. He assumed we are “dumb Americans” and didn’t know the difference between consumme and pasta. I asked another waiter and he apologized and got us the soup. The rest of the time, Pietro avoided us (I’m guessing out of embarrassment). Another thing that was unpleasant is the beds were so hard. After a long day of hiking, my bones hurt sleeping in them. Also, the room was so hot. No air conditioning and the only way to get air was to keep the sliding door open all night long. We had two rooms and one of the rooms had a window which was better bc you could crack it but there were not blackout curtains so those staying in that room were awake at 5:30am with the sun. As tired as I was, I dreaded bedtime. We lived in Germany for 6 years and have stayed in so many European hotels. This was the worst by far and the most expensive. I would not recommend staying here.
——————- Regarding your comments, I did ask about the curtains and even asked if you had another room with blackout curtains and your response was “no, all these particular room types only have clear curtains”. We were totally lied to at dinner and now I’m being lied to again. We never gave you compliments during our stay either. I don’t appreciate you being dishonest here. Obviously, you have no desire to improve...
Read moreWe have reviewed the Hotel Europa before, but after our recent stay over New Year we felt we needed to gush again! Setting aside the stunning beauty of Siusi and the surrounding Dolomites, and the world-class skiing in arguably the most beautiful destination you can find, this hotel, led by the impeccable hands of Michael and Kathrin Trocker, never ceases to impress. The Trockers are the next generation to take over the management of this family-run hotel, and they have carefully overseen a luxurious, yet approachable upgrade to the entire hotel. Rooms are extremely comfortable, with large walk-in showers with oversized rainfall shower heads; comfy beds with duvet blankets, hardwood floors, ample storage and closet space, and wonderful views over the village square and the Santner peaks beyond, or on the other side over the fields and hills. Meals, which are included in the price of the room, are beyond excellent. As I have said to friends, the nightly 5-course dinners rival anything you would find in a fine restaurant in a large city! The wine list, curated by Michael and featuring some of the best regional wines (many award-winning, as Alto Adige and South Tyrol are known to produce world-class wines) is a thing of beauty, again providing choices that will rival any list. Breakfasts, also included, are equally impressive, with limitless options of breads, butters, jams, meats, cheeses, muesli, fruit, a juicing station, eggs.. whatever you might desire. When you consider that the breakfast and dinner are included, the room charge, already reasonable, becomes a tremendous value. The staff goes above and beyond with service, smiles, manners and an overall feeling of staying with family. As before, we can't wait to return to the...
