First of all I fully understand why this is one of the best hotels on the island as rated by trip advisor, it really does offer excellent value for money. The rooms are so spacious, parking is easy, the service is superb particularly for the elder gentleman who speaks fantastic English and cannot do enough for you. The breakfast is “COVID safe” you in effect stand away from the buffet and order what you would like and they serve it on the plate for you, the scrambled eggs are as high quality as you can wish for as is the salami and cheese. The bread rolls are very traditional for Italy they are not really to my wife and my preference (virtually hollow on the inside and a flour crust outside) but there is no disputing the freshness. The coffee is also excellent. In the rooms you can make your own nespresso, the tv has cnn news if you need the English language to help you sleep. The bathrooms is excellent the shower comfortable.||All that said I would have scored the hotel 3 (I.e Average) if was not for the service. The reason is three fold first the bed, the mattress was way to hard (we stayed in room 33 so might be different in other rooms), I much prefer a mattress with some give. 2nd is the location, I love walking and exploring but the area really is only built for the car you cannot walk anywhere easily and the area is just to quite for us. 3) some of the decor needs modernising, some was very good and some nice paintings but some...
Read moreWe had 5 days in this cosy family hotel in the quiet East of Sardinia. We rate it very highly. Most guests were German, Swiss or Austrian and many were repeat guests. This is a family-run hotel of exactly the ideal type I look for. Personal attention, detail, hospitality and quality.||We had a cool and comfortable room with a balcony over the main road but silent at night due to the windows. We loved the beach equipment you could borrow each day such as parasols, beach mats, games and inflatables. Such a lovely touch.||Breakfast was rich ( as the Germans say) with sometimes a home made veg tarte or warm boiled eggs and always plenty of fresh fruit, yoghurt and warm pastries. Coffees of choice to order.||The family are amazing and give guests personal attention. The evening meals were very good value and especially the Cena Sardo with roast piglet on the barbecue and copious local produce. There are super local restaurants like Arbaratsar and excellent beaches locally in the walkable Porto Frailis and slightly further afield in Lido di Orri. We rated these beaches higher than those of the windy, crowded, fashionable North.||Arbatax is a working town with low key tourism and ticks my box for being a hidden corner of the Med with good food, good beaches and low crowds even in August. This hotel is indeed a pearl and we recommend...
Read moreStayed here for 8 nights. The room was not super modern but actually quite spacy, quiet and very comfortable - I was able to sleep very well. Housekeeping was efficient. Breakfast is not very elaborate but decent with freshly brewed coffee and cakes, and fruit. Reliable WiFi, plenty of free parking space. The road outside of the terrain of the hotel is not busy at all. The swimming pool is nice as well - perfect to spend a morning or full day - and the bar for drinks and coffee is right next to it. Arbatax and Porto Frailis are quiet but there are some nice restaurants spread around the area - and close to the marina of Arbatax it is a bit more lively. Tortoli is a few more minutes by car - with more shops, but also a bit too touristy for my taste. The hotel manager helped us to get a good deal on an afternoon boat trip (gommone) from Santa Maria Navarrese along the coast, which was really great (total price 135 E plus 30 E fuel). However, for a nice afternoon on the seaside, just visit one of the beaches close to the hotel - they’re all very enjoyable....
