Hotel Joseph is a typical 3 star Italian hotel. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself and pool area and sun terrace were very clean and tidy. There were always sun beds available. The rooftop pool is lovely but unfortunately is not heated. Our room was a big letdown. It was supposedly a double room but was so small could only really be described as a single. The bed was a king size but almost filled the room. In order to open the doors onto the balcony we had to move the bedside tables! The shutters were very difficult to open too. The air conditioning didn't work so sleep quality was poor. The bathroom was better apart from the shower. The water temperature fluctuated constantly from freezing to scalding hot. Maybe this was because our room was at the end of a corridor but was in any case dangerous. To be fair, I think we were unlucky. Other people we spoke to seemed to have far better facilities. The bed linen was good quality and the bathroom towels (which were replaced daily) were thick, fluffy and very white - no complaints there! ||The food at dinner was sometimes good, sometimes not so good but was generally acceptable. Breakfast was generally disappointing. We would have liked to see some fresh fruit on offer rather than tinned peaches and prunes every day. ||The free wifi was terrible! The signal was so weak, even in the Reception area that it was virtually useless. ||There was no entertainment in the hotel other than a musician in the restaurant on Saturday evening. It was very quiet and most people seemed to be in bed by 11.00pm. This was fine for us but might be a little too quiet for some people. ||Despite a few complaints I would return to Hotel Joseph providing we could have a...
Read moreAs part of a travel package, and I paid extra for a single room, I was given a double room on the 4th floor in the rear annex building (also called the red building).||||Altough, the main building takes up a good portion of the view one can still see the ocean on each side. However, many rooms do not have this luxury. So make sure to get a room facing the ocean, and on the top floor if available.||||The room was clean with a good sized balcony facing the ocean. My room was equipped with a small refrigerator, which I´m not sure every room has got. A good sized supermarket named ”Coop” can be located approx. 700 meters down the rear road called Via Versilia 21. ||||Breakfast is the usual type Italian style, basic, adequate and suitable. On the other hand, dinner and lunch are - in my personal opinion - appallingly bad... It´s completely bland and tasteless... upon which I highly suggest eating out on one of the local restaurants if ones stay is not part of a travel package.||||However, I must complement the male owner each evening for serving a trible size sambuca for the price of one size. ||||There is no English friendly tv channels so remember to bring some good books, a tablet or a laptop. The hotel does have free Wi-Fi which works okay, depending on where one is located on the hotel grounds.||||One can cheaply rent bicycles from the hotel to get around.||||Street markets in the area is in Pietrasanta on Thursdays from 8:00 – 12:30, and in Marina di Pietrasanta on Saturdays 8:00 – 12:30. ||||Overall, Hotel Joseph is a nice and quiet hotel, which...
Read moreMy wife and I visited this area with our friends from Sansepolcro. We enjoyed our room and this lovely hotel very much. The terrace on the top of the building was a treasure, with great views and a breeze and quiet perfect for that afternoon nap. We also really enjoyed the food. The staff, all the way from the owners to all the wait staff and housekeeping treated us wonderfully. All the staff seemed to really enjoy their work and were very hospitable. We loved having access to the hotel bicycles which we used often to ride along the beach and to ride in the pleasant nearby streets with lots of shops and restaurants. Although one has little control over the AC, we were comfortable throughout our stay. We will definitely stay here again if ever...
