I just wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the exceptional experience my mother and I had during our recent stay at your hotel.

Despite my booking error on the wrong date, you went above and beyond by opening the doors and offering us a stay anyway. even though you were supposed to be closing that day. It was such a thoughtful gesture and truly went above and beyond our expectations. The service you provided was absolutely outstanding—your staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive, and made us feel right at home.

The hotel itself was nothing short of beautiful, with stunning views and a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. The onsen was a highlight, and the food was incredible—each dish was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious.

What truly stood out, though, was the level of care and service you provided. It’s rare to experience such kindness and dedication, and we are both truly appreciative of everything you did to make our stay special.

It is February and weather is very cold! We firstly encountered with receptionists to explain the selections of hot baths available which is awesome for us! Our stay includes a full course dinner, follow with a breakfast in next morning, using local produces with traditional onsen steam cooking technique. Our room is furnished with traditional japanese material, such as tatami mats, wooden floorboards, and sliding panels. Overall the experience is really authentic! 別府の中でも珍しい水色の温泉と、ミシュラン一つ星の和食を目当てに、離れに1泊させていただきました。

泉質は単純泉ということで、強い香りはしなかったのですが、ほのかに硫黄のような香りが感じられました。色は薄っすら白濁した水色という感じで、思っていたよりは透明感がありましたが、お風呂は広く開放感がありましたし、貸切で好きなときにゆっくり入れたので大満足でした。また、温泉の成分が石灰化しているのを見て、美肌効果があるというメタケイ酸の含有量の多さを感じ、テンションが上がりました。

なお、おぐらさんでは、お部屋付きのお風呂のほかに6つの貸切風呂に入ることができますが、水色の温泉がウリの照湯以外のお湯は、単純泉らしい無色透明無臭の温泉でした。

逆に、普通の泉質だと思っていた部屋付けの露天風呂が、照湯のように水色がかった泉質だったので、部屋の温泉だけでも満足度が高かったです。

館内は、かなり築年数の経った建物だと思われますし、レトロな雰囲気満載ではあるのですが、古びた印象という悪いイメージはなく、ノスタルジックで寛ぐことができました。

また、食事はさすが1つ星。ひとつひとつ丁寧につくられていて、彩も鮮やかで、名物の関アジも他のお店で食べたものよりも断然おいしかったです。ただ、今回はシェフの特別プランという、少し高いものをオプションで選んだのですが、それにより追加されたというオマール海老は、逆にお料理のバランスを崩して邪魔になっている印象で勿体ないなぁと感じました。逆を言えば、特別プランで無理に高級食材を盛り込まなくとも充分おいしいお料理を提供されているのだろうと感じました。

残念だったポイントはひとつだけ。これは運も悪かったのでしょうが、夜に照湯に入っていたら、超特大のゴキ●リらしき虫が、内湯の方にいることを発見し、一気に恐怖のどん底へ突き落とされました。外から入り込んだのか…仕方ないとは思いますが、衝撃的ではありました。昼に入ったときも、小さな羽虫の死骸が20匹以上、浮かんでおりましたのを自分たちでなんとかしなければなりませんでしたし、部屋付けのお風呂でも虫との遭遇がありましたので、虫が出やすい環境なのか、旅館の方であまり対策をされていないのかなといった印象でした。

また、マイナスというわけではないですが、比較的小さな旅館でありながら、3代目という料理長や女将の顔が見えずだったのは少し寂しかったですかね。

総合的には、泉質もよく食事も美味しくサービスしてくださるスタッフも感じがよく、良い宿でした。...
