I have been traveling in Japan for a month and have stayed in different Ryokans and Hotels, I have to say this is probably the worst experience ive ever had. The rooms are all too close to one another, and the way the building is you can hear everything happening in the other rooms. The floor creaks and is loud when people are walking around, the doors made loud noises. People were moving around, were loud till midnight. Needless to say, barely got any sleep.
The Onsen was filthy, and you have to reserve a spot. You may or may not get a spot. Remember that also is your shower.
Restaurant didnt serve any food. It had a sign that their sister restaurant is opened for dinner which also was closed. Hardly anything to eat around.
Staff are polite and nice but thats about it. My booking said nature view and it had tiny window overlooking the balcony where clothes were hanging.
Oh, and my door didnt have a lock it was just a flimsy latch. Idk wth kinda place this is.
Not even enough toilet for all the guest rooms. Thank god I booked just 1 night, couldn’t wait to get out...
Read moreThis place is a joke, I can't believe I paid so much to go there. First of all forget about the onsen. If you arrive after 10am, you'll be asked to book a 40 min slot but all the ones after 6pm will be taken to enjoy stopping your day at 3pm. There is also a non reserved bath but you see people locking themselves inside for hours, including members of staff!! They even leave onsen and still mark it as reserved. The onsen itself is not private, you hear the guests of the other onsen that are shouting loudly so don't hope to relax. You'll not be able to go to the onsen conveniently.
The place is old and noisy, one toilet for all the rooms of the hotels. There are no places to eat in the evening around Gora except for the restaurant of the hotel so enjoy your ¥1500 pizza. I had a shit stay with the overcrowding in Hakone, and a shit night here thereafter. And once again, so expensive...
Read moreLovely stay! Fantastic pizzas and a good vibe. We booked the private Japanese-style room, and it was very spacious and comfortable. They also had a private onsen you can reserve upon arrival, which was a treat! Highly recommend this accommodation for visitors to Hakone Gora. We also did a hike to Mount Kintoki from here (with views of Fuji) - the bus was convenient and took about 15 minutes from the hostel to the trail start.
Getting there: I recommend you take the train to Gora Station, which is right by the hostel. We opted for the bus, which said it would include a 12 minute walk - little did we know, that walk meant ascending a long and narrow outdoor staircase with our big...
