The place is a bit of a maze, feels very traditional and very sweet. The Japanese theme is very traditional - it feels like you're getting the real Japanese experience if you stay here.||||The bathrooms seem clean. The kitchen area has ample space for your things, good facilities and teabags available for guest use. We hadn't been in an onsen before so can't compare, but they seemed clean, very hot, very steamy, almost like a boiling spa inside a dark sauna. You could cool down the water a bit with a cold tap, but it took a long time. Note the rules are you can't wear a bathing suit, though you can lock the door.||||Very clean and simple rooms, but could do with bedside tables. The rooms seem to have extremely thin walls, you can hear everyone walking around the hallways, if you're trying to sleep at unusual times or you are a light sleeper, that may not suit you. ||||Place relatively handy to everything including the train station, cable car, great dumpling restaurant, and a convenience store. The restaurant in the bar downstairs is also good, pretty nice food and obviously extremely convenient! ||||Would definitely stay here again if in the area, and the staff are super helpful and...
Read moreAlthough I have stayed only for one night, it was an incredible experience to stay at this hostel. The host was such a help to us, we are so grateful for his hospitality. 4-stars for the room is only due to the creaking stairs that made little noise but it truly made no difference to our amazing stay.
The first day we have unfortunately come late back to the hostel for dinner, the kitchen was closed, yet he managed to prepare something for us which saved us because we haven't had a proper meal that day.
The next day we were running a bit late for our train and he helped us with the luggage to make sure we made it to the station in time so we catch the shinkansen to Osaka (successfully accomplished!). Lastly, I am really grateful to how attentive he was. My mom had a headache but he didn't have any pills so he went to the pharmacy to buy them, although I told him it's not a big deal. Not only has he come back with the pills but he also bought a healing knee patch for my friend because she was limping. The service was beyond my expectations and I can totally recommend this place to stay in...
Read moreChanced upon this place while researching for accommodations in Hakone that was within our budget. I was super impressed by their website! I wasn't able to book it via any booking agents and so I emailed them and they confirmed a room with me via email. I was honestly pretty nervous about whether it would actually serve as a legit reservation and was really happy to see my name on their list when we checked in. The room we booked was traditional Ryokan style and it was not only very clean but very comfortable too! The communal bathrooms were kept really clean and there is even 2 onsens! They have a kitchen where we can prepare our own meals but they also have a little cafe/bar that serves really good food! The food took a while to be served, I think there was only 1 chef and quite many orders (including ours LOL) but it was soooo worth the wait! Do note that while they are located really close to the train station, they are on a pretty steep hill so do take note if you have heavy baggage. All in all we had an incredible...
