I stopped here on a bicycle tour to rest and get out of the rain for a couple days. Really glad I did! The hostel is really cool, with an outdoor / camping theme. They have a really nice lounge area with hammock chairs, a dart board, a Wii, and books. There are big windows in the dorm area that look out on cherry trees, so you’re greeted by that in the morning when you open the curtain on your private capsule area. There’s also an outside deck with tables and chairs and hammock chairs (I didn’t use these because it was raining but they’d be great in nice weather). There’s even a little rock climbing wall. ||Everything was spotlessly clean. It’s non-smoking so it doesn’t reek of cigarettes like many Japanese hotels. The shower had endless hot water (which I made ample use of after 6 nights of camping). Another huge benefit for me as a bicycle traveler was the laundry facility - the washer and soap is free and the dryer was only 100 yen for 30 minutes, very reasonable. ||The best part though was the owner, Hiro. He was very friendly, speaks fluent English, and gave me a lot of detailed advice on Japan and where to go on my bicycle tour. This was the most valuable part, for me, as he told me about places that I doubt I would’ve discovered otherwise. The other staff was also very friendly and attentive.||It’s not a noisy, rowdy hostel like some I’ve stayed in and so I think it would work well for business travelers too.||Highly recommended if you’re in the area and looking for a good base...

Read moreKind of cool place, but feels like they didn’t quite nail the concept. Mind you, for the price it’s impressive. Too much fake timber and a lack of attention to detail, but some good points too. The bouldering wall is quite good, and the community kitchen is adequate. The lounge area has some nice camping furniture and free coffee, but the coffee machine has some issues... plenty of free parking, but it’s in need of paving. The room was tiny, and finished in standard Japanese fittings and wallpaper, with some fake timber wallpaper... the mattresses were a little thin and tired, and the sheets felt overused. Seems to me they are trying to cash in on the glamping trend, but were not prepared or able to fully follow through with...
