After a nice experience of Nikko in Okinawa, I needed a one night stay in Himeji and was happy to book Nikko. ||Very disappointed to find the room was very dirty !!! (Window and surfaces weren’t cleaned from the people staying in the room before me ... is there any COVID19 preventative procedures? Or management doesn’t care. In addition mound all through the bathroom, and a run down old room (with broken tap ect) ||All this while paying full price, there is so many other hotel near the train station, don’t make the same mistake I made.||Unfortunately I felt discriminated and looked down on as a foreigner who couldn’t speak Japanese. Asked to fill in Japanese forms I said I didn’t understand until finally the clerk reluctantly agreed to get English from(all the details I had already provided at the time of booking) then I was assigned the room that was next to elevator .. I arrived at the night and had no time to check the room, by the time I came back from dinner I was extremely unhappy to find the condition of the room .. during these COVID times .. how can hotels not even clean the surfaces from previous guests ? And allow mould to grow ?...
Read moreTerrible! 0 star is deserved. Very unexpected of a Nikko hotel as the price is on the upper end of the scale. I got a room right next to the elevator that was extremely noisy. The heater did not work, as it was set for air conditioning only in October! The room was freezing. I had to wear my coat inside my room and still was cold. The staff merely laughed and ignored me when I complained. They claimed that the heating worked.
When I took a bath the pipes broke and the room flooded. When I met with the manager he looked down at me and denied that there was anything wrong! After demanding he go to the room to see, he admitted that they had not changed to heating on the HVAC unit yet and there have been multiple floods recently including the room I was staying in but they hadn't had time to fix it! Why would you place anyone in a room you already knew needed work?
Again the attitude of both the staff and manager was the worst, very condescending and did not care. The manager definitely needs to be fired or this place will be out of business soon.
This will be the last time I frequent a Nikko hotel for certain as there many better options...
Read moreRoom is about what you would expect. Double has a couch which is nice because there isn't a dresser to unpack any clothes for a long visit. The room comes well stocked with toiletries (shampoo/conditioner/bodywash, toothbrush and paste, body sponge etc) and they will replace daily if you wanted. Room feels very clean, I felt comfortable enough to take a bath after they had cleaned the room-toilet makes a great place to set a laptop/tablet for movie watching. I find there is enough room for me to set out all my stuff in the bathroom but it would be a tight squeeze for 2--I like that there are good enough areas to set things in the shower. The bed is comfortable but I am not a big fan of the pillows. Even the softer pillows are too hard for me (I am used to foam pillows).
They just redid the restaurant where they serve breakfast and it's very nice. A TON of options both continental and Japanese style. I personally enjoy being able to eat what I'm comfortable with and being able to try some new things. Excellent fruit and...
