The hotel is located close to the Ito downtown, we were driving so it wasn't an issue. There are plenty of parking at the hotel. The ryokan is well maintained, it doesn't feel old, the onsen are properly modernized and clean. The room is HUGE which, with many functional areas, it was very pleasant room. There is also a private onsen as well for family or couples for a small fee. The private onsen has a good traditional style to it and it was open-air . There are also a chair for old people and toys for kids, so it's well thought out. Many people seems to like to have their dinner at the private eating room on first floor, so we did the same. They had one service person per 2-3 rooms maybe so we were well serviced, and the guy was very nice. I remember meeting him for dinner, and he realized we can only speak English, so the next morning when we met him again for breakfast, it looks like he made note in his notebook so he can properly introduce the dishes to us in English. I could feel the dedication so thank you to the man. For the food itself, I think it was alright, wasn't the best though. I think I enjoy Kyoto style ryokan dinner more than this one. Also they'll advertise the Wasabi Sochu as like some special drink lol, you can try it if you want but for me it doesn't really taste like anything. Maybe just like some mild sweet drink. It was fun to get to grate your own wasabi though, which I used to eat with the meal in the end because once you put it inside the drink, you can't taste it anymore.

One of the best experiences we had in Japan! The staff at Seizan Yamato are extremely friendly and helpful, doing everything they can to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The room was very clean, and every day the staff would check in with us about breakfast and dinner times. Both breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious and thoughtfully prepared. We celebrated my birthday at Seizan Yamato, and they kindly offered a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and even helped us order a birthday cake. A special thank you to Mr. Ikeda and Ms. Ae for making our time at Seizan Yamato so unforgettable. We will definitely come back again!

Wow! What an experience! Will revisit on my next trip to Japan. Such a calm and present experience overall. Food is amazing, customer service is seriously on another level. Loved the room. If you're a foreigner (and open minded to trying new things (food, exp, etc) well worth the trip. English friendly, any gaps can be handled by translation apps. Traditional and modern meet. Looking forward to coming back.

This was our first visit to a ryokan and I think it may have ruined us for any others. ||It was the best hotel stay of my life. The staff was incredibly welcoming and responsive to our needs. We had the dining package as well and one person is vegetarian - they adjusted the traditional Japanese multi course dinner to take that into account. ||The entire experience was wonderful and so relaxing from start to finish. The room was great- in the evening and morning staff would transform it from a sitting and dining area to a sleeping one using the traditional futons on the tatami mats. Beds were very comfortable with a choice of 6 types of pillows. Bathroom was lovely and well fitted with toiletries. Everything was spotlessly clean. ||Our meals were amazing- 10 courses of traditional Japanese cuisine. Breakfast was a choice of either western or Japanese- we tried both and they were great. ||There are 4 onsen- 2 open air and 2 indoors. They are hot! But very relaxing and soothing. They are segregated by sex but switch daily so we got to try out all four. Our favorite is the outdoor one surrounded by rocks and a garden. The day we went it was raining lightly and the juxtaposition of the cool rain and hot pool was soothing and meditative. ||There is also a private onsen that can be used/rented which could be good for couples. ||There is pick up at the train station in Ito and the shuttle runs every half hour most of the day so if you want to go to town or sightseeing it is easy to get around. ||Overall, this was a magical experience and the perfect end to our...

We were looking for a Ryokan experience with modern luxury amenities and Seizan Yamato was a perfect experience! ||||The service was outstanding, right from being picked up at Ito station to being greeted in the lobby and given our yukatas to wear. We stayed in a traditional Japanese room with tatami mats and a small balcony. At night they roll out futon to sleep on. The room itself was lovely and had a nice bath as well. We didn't get the rooms with their own outdoor, private onsen, but those are available if you want the ultimate in convenience.||||The hotel featured a large onsen for guests with two gender segregated onsen areas. They are switched every day by gender so women and men get to see both baths on their days. One has a larger outdoor onsen and they both have gorgeous indoor onsens. The changing areas and showering cubicles were all very luxurious and felt like a quality spa experience. Like all Japanese onsen, you are required to be naked and shower thoroughly before entering the baths themselves. Fortunately, there was rarely a crowd in the onsen and we were often alone in them.||||The hotel has a dinner/breakfast add on option for the full ryokan experience that we unfortunately didn't do. If you get it, you get served your meals in your hotel room. It is expensive, but they appeared to be very large and gourmet kaiseki meals.||||While they provide a free shuttle from Ito station, we found it an easy 1.5 mile walk to go to downtown Ito or the beach if you don't want to wait for the shuttle or...
