Modern and inexpensive hotel with airport shuttle bus service
N34°24.596' E135°19.105' Due to our early flight from Kansai International Airport, we considered booking a room in the only hotel on the artificial airport island and not in a hotel on the mainland. This hotel is a short 5-minute walk across the skybridge to departure building, but fellow reviewers pointed out many disadvantages of the 1994 old hotel, such as small rooms for Japanese standard, lack of maintenance, expensive, poor ventilation, hard bed, moderate breakfast and unfriendly reception. In April 2018, we chose First Hotel on the mainland with airport shuttle bus service and none of these disadvantages.
First Hotel is a 3-minute walk from the Nankai Izumisano train station. Around this station are many bars and restaurants. The hotel provides a good pamphlet for foreigners. The hotel does not have parking facilities, but there are many commercial parking spaces around.
The annex was recently built with modern Western rooms. Our room 2304 on 2F was big for Japanese standard with a small bathroom. We paid ¥9800 for one night. The room had Wi-Fi reception, television, fridge (no mini-bar), air conditioner, air purifier, double bed, desk, sofa table and two chairs, hair dryer, water cooler. Everything modern with business hotel quality. For longer stays, coin washing machines and dryers are on 1F. Good Japanese and Western breakfast buffet was included in the price.
The hotel offers shuttle bus service to Osaka Kansai International Airport. No pick-up service from the airport according the reception: use the train. Our shuttle departed for the airport at 6.45am, while the breakfast buffet opened at 6.30am. Coordination between services at First Hotel is required.
Booking on the hotel website went in Japanese, but Google Chrome provided simultaneous translation. Confirmation was in Japanese, but the translation worked perfectly. You do not have to use any of the well-known internet booking websites. Checking in and out went efficiently. The reception staff spoke English.
Izumisamo First Hotel is a modern and cheap hotel with good restaurants nearby, a good night’s sleep and good breakfast buffet. There is no reason to stay in the hotel on the airport island....
