Hon ji Onsen is a wonderful historic ryokan OZEN nested by a beautiful forested mountain. Their service is impeccable and breakfasts outstanding. We traveled from Boston for L' Eroica Bicycle event. The kind gentleman at the front desk had our bicycle cargo crates placed into secure room immediately. They were very kind to provide us space to assemble and store our vintage bikes during our stay. There rail station is about 15 minute walk. Each morning our breakfasts were delicious and changed each day. The nice ladies were efficient and attractive. Outstanding! The lounge was comfortable and welcoming with variety of drink, coffee and snacks. Our room on the 4th floor was perfect with large windows to view the forest and a shrine up the hill. The room was very large with very soft futons. We appreciated the western style shower. The website has a good description of onsen. It's an easy walk to town. There is a Family Mart close. We hiked an trail over the mountain into town. The summit has a small park with good views and clean toilets. We highly recommend Hon ji and hope to return next...

They were very relaxing. The staff were friendly and polite but, true to bring in a less tourist focused area, English wasn't really spoken so have a translator app handy. The room was great, spacious and traditional with some modern concessions.
Overall a relaxing, quiet and...
Read moreI was traveling alone and arrived at the hotel late. Despite the hour, the staff kindly prepared dinner for me. The hotel was very comfortable, clean, and equipped with all the necessary amenities. It is situated adjacent to an old mining pit and features two open-air hot springs, both of which are exceptionally clean and inviting. The hotel offers a traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner, with all dishes being remarkably fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this hotel for those seeking a secluded getaway to enjoy hot springs...
