Nikko ran this hotel until recently, when Hoshino Resort took over and became OMO7. As such, some parts of the lobby seemed rundown and needed sprucing up. That said, my room was well-maintained and fairly up-to-date regarding facilities. The typical washlet, deep soaking tub, and Nespresso machine were among the features I liked. This was a twin room, and one curious aspect was that one bed was visibly higher than another. ||There is only one restaurant in the hotel on the 22nd floor where breakfast is served. The place transforms into a French restaurant with set menus for lunch and dinner. The restaurant offers scenic views of the city of Kochi and the surrounding areas. The meal's courses were well executed, including the main course consisting of a very moist stewed chicken. ||Since I arrived on a noon-time flight from Tokyo Haneda, I had to wait 3 hours before I could check in at 15:00. The receptionist at the front desk had some difficulty explaining to me that they do not allow early check-ins. I understand that this is because of a shortage of workers in the hotel industry. Nevertheless, my room was always clean.||I also give this hotel high marks for sustainability. Rooms are provided with a pitcher and ice bucket, and there is a pantry on the 10th floor with a water dispenser, ice machine, and microwave oven. There is a vending machine in the lobby where you can buy drinks and snacks. The lobby also has an area with baskets containing amenities that guests can help...

Read moreThe best customer service of any hotel I’ve been at, bar none, including places in tourist destinations and major cities. We were stuck at chickurunji shrine and needed to get to a boat an hour away. No taxis, no Uber and not much English anywhere. We called the hotel - the manager personally came and dropped off a cab with instructions to get us to our next destination and found his way back himself. We left the do not disturb sign on by mistake - they left a neat bag with clean towels and coffee/tea etc outside our room and they apologized! Was traveling with a vegetarian. In spite of language issues they went out of their way to help and provide adequate food. With just a couple of days stay people greeted and knew us. It looks like a business hotel but it was a more personalized than any boutique hotel I’ve stayed at. Just amazing service. Overall I found Shikoku tougher than other places because there is much less English understood or spoken, but the hotel compensated for that by...
