This is a standard business hotel with an onsen on the side. We had a great time here though and well worth picking this place and using your savings on food, wine, or other pleasures! ||||Bad points first: decor is a bit tired, lift door shuts VERY fast (hold it open if more than one person enters), and it is a fairly of the way if you don't have a car (see below for hints about access), no hotel bar but beer and sake are available reasonably from 24/7 vending machines.||||Good points: nice free breakfast, rooms clean, with yukata and towels replaced daily, razors combs etc are free on request, the hotel does canteen style evening meals which are very tasty and great value, free car parking, and best of all an onsen which is really very nice. Oh and the price which more than makes up for the bad points.||I ||Tips: I've told you about the lift, access is via the minobu line local train to Kokubo station or the bus. Check the times for both BEFORE you decide on your plans in central Kofu as they are infrequent. The train does not use suica, and is a one man operation, effectively a bus on rails. Get a ticket from the machine on entry, you get out at the front and the train driver takes your fare (at Kofu station you take the ticket and pay the staff next to the exit gates). Get into the front car it's much easier. There is a change machine behind the driver or if you have big notes you'll get a change chit refundable at any big JR station. It is 210 yen Kofu to Kokubo. The walk is 10 mins from Kokubo station. Much closer is the bus stop at Kamijo 1 minute away. Local buses don't feature on Google bus you can get access to the timetable online at busmaps dot jp. Use Kofu eki for the main station. Buses don't run on Sundays...
Read moreThe positives to start with would be the price! It is unbeatable value. The free breakfast was amazing. Good selection of fish, meat and the usual selection of bread and rice. Free onsen for guests to use. The room itself was surprising larger than most. Parking was right in front of the hotel or at a smaller graveled area just behind. ||||Now the negatives. The room was very dim. The carpet was grimy. The toilet bowl was absolutely tiny. Will not fit men taller than 1.7m. The water pressure was non existent. The furnishings were very dated. The hotel is located right next to a fly-over. I drove right pass it as the GPS located it right next to the road. Make sure to keep left and take the exit before you can see the hotel. I had to take 15min to U turn back. It is a little away from the town area.||||Its definitely serviceable for...
Read moreThere is only one real reason to stay here - the onsen. The public onsen is very nice. Watch out - they switch the male and female onsens each day! You can reserve the private onsen for 1500 yen for 45 minutes. It is not fancy but it features constantly flowing natural hot spring water that is very relaxing.||||This hotel is quite inexpensive, which makes up for it being so far away from the station. You will have to take a taxi (1800-2000...
