This place was a merchant's house and shop converted into an inn, which was really sweet and nice. The idea of sleeping in an old (yet refurbished) place is charming. This inn is very new, so I got a good deal for 2 nights in the "Factory" room. This room used to be where the merchant produced their goods. The room itself was quite large, with a living room and toilet. You had to go outside and climb some stairs to get to the bedroom. And you had to go outside again to get to the shower. As I stayed in winter, it was quite cold outside so this was a little inconvenient. Otherwise, it was a really nice place. They had pocket wifi for you to use for the time you are staying there (you could take it out for the day as well, just charge it at night). There was no breakfast, but there is a fridge and kettle in your room. There is also a common area for people to use if they want, but I didn't. I suggest leaving the reverse cycle aircon (heat) on all day while you're out because the room does get quite cold otherwise. Remember to bring cash to pay for the room when you check in. It's a small inn with few rooms. It looked like they even had bikes there too for you to use, but I didn't ask about it so maybe just check before you go. It's super easy to rent a bike in Kyoto anyway if that's what you're into. They had free laundry (washer and dryer) and a hair dryer to use. It was a little bit of a walk from the nearest subway station but the location was okay. The owner is great and will give you detailed directions on how...
Read moreThe location is good and it's very clean. The building is somehow interesting. However, when we arrived late in the evening the heating was off, and despite putting it on we were freezing cold the entire night. Also the place is not really practical as you need to step outside to go from the room to the toilets, lounge and bathroom, all in 3 different adjacent places. It is clearly not convenient at night or...
