During my recent visit to Kyoto, I had the pleasure of staying at a charming hotel just a short subway ride away from the city center. Situated next to the renowned Kyoto Convention Center, this hidden gem provided a serene and picturesque environment that exceeded my expectations.
The hotel's location, approximately 30 minutes away from Kyoto City Center by subway, offers a peaceful respite from the bustling urban landscape. While it may require a bit of travel, the serene surroundings more than make up for the distance. The hotel is surrounded by lush greenery and trees, creating a tranquil atmosphere that invites relaxation and rejuvenation.
One thing to note is that the Kyoto subway does not accept the JR Pass, but the convenience of the subway system and the hotel's proximity to a station make exploring the city still easily accessible.
The hotel staff left a lasting impression with their warm hospitality and ever-present smiles. They were always ready to assist with any inquiries or requests, providing a welcoming and friendly atmosphere throughout our stay. Their attentiveness and willingness to go above and beyond truly enhanced our experience and made us feel valued as guests.
The proximity of the hotel to the Kyoto Convention Center, one of the largest convention centers in the world, is an added benefit. This makes it an ideal choice for those attending conferences, exhibitions, or events in the area. Even if you're not attending a convention, the peaceful ambiance and natural surroundings contribute to a sense of tranquility that sets this hotel apart.
While the hotel may be situated outside the city center, this should not deter those seeking a quiet and beautiful place to stay in Kyoto. The peaceful environment, surrounded by nature's beauty, offers a unique experience that allows you to unwind and reconnect with the tranquility of your surroundings.
If you don't mind a short subway ride to the city center and are looking for a serene and picturesque retreat in Kyoto, I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. Immerse yourself in the calming atmosphere, enjoy the attentive service from the friendly staff, and discover the hidden beauty that Kyoto has to offer beyond its bustling center.
Whether you're attending a convention or simply seeking a peaceful getaway, this hotel is a true gem that will leave you with unforgettable memories of your...
Read moreJust stayed 2 nights in a club twin and a club king room. First the positives -|1. The rooms - for a oldish hotel and a round one at that, the room was outstanding - it was spacious and i don't mean spacious by Japanese standards but really by any international one. The rooms looked pristine - i don't know if they did some renovations during covid but it did not look in the least worn. The bathtub was great and the room looked out to some nice greenery and trees. The sheets was really nicely made - taut and smooth just as it should be and the bed comfy. Adequate outlets.|2. The lounge is a nice respite with it's nice vantage looking out to a nice pond and garden. The staff were very friendly and explained about the macha tea. Dinner choice was reasonable with about 5 choices of food and plenty on alcohol to choose from.|3. Just opposite hotel is the conference centre (which is why i stayed at Prince) and the subway.|4. The area surrounding is green and peaceful and lush. One of my colleagues even saw a deer at night near the hotel.|Now the not so good.|1. It's not near any shopping or restaurants (unless you count the cafe in the conference centre). There is a McDonalds about 8 minutes walk away (if you walk a bit briskly) and a Daiso about 15-20 minutes walk. Some other small restaurants within 10 minutes walk. |2. The hotel restaurants - they are not exactly family friendly in their fare. Set meals more for formal dining. Given the paucity of very nearby restaurants, the hotel could consider increasing the repertoire of simple kid friendly food. Strange how none of the restaurants offer this but some choices available from room service i.e. spaghetti. My daughter ended up with room service and me trekking to Mcdonalds to supplement her meal choice. I had trouble with Uber Eats or that's an option too. |2. Breakfast is a bit forgettable - i had the buffet one day - not quite befitting a Marriott Autograph hotel standard. I tried the western set another day - it was really quite nice but staff a bit inflexible. My daughter liked the bread so i asked for more only for the ultraman no sign to be invoked and the reply that they were out of stock (i guess that's their diplomatic way of saying you only get your one basket of bread and that's it.|So I'm giving the hotel a 4/5. Nonetheless, there are enough positives to make me want to come...
Read moreWhat a beautiful hotel and location is exactly how I always imagined Kyoto Japan would be. This hotel is a little piece of heaven. The grounds are gorgeous with azalea hedges and many trees completely engulfing you into a Zen like state of being. The service is amazing and everyone is so happy to help and answer questions. We got an early check in and it was greatly appreciated. We were put in a large room with a beautiful view of the Kyoto international conference. If you are looking for a wonderful place to have your company’s retreat/conference this is it. The Prince Marriott would be the ideal spot to have all your employees stay and then they could walk to the conference center. Your employees would love it and it would be work conference that they always cherished. It is a 3 minute walk to the subway which takes about 25 minutes to get to Kyoto Station. There is grocery store directly behind the hotel and there is a walking path from the hotel to get there. This is an amazing hotel with amazing staff and the perfect location away from the bustling city Kyoto to rest and recuperate whether you are in Kyoto on business or pleasure. We also had the pleasure of attending an authentic Japanese tea at the tea house at the hotel. It was a wonderful experience for both my husband and I. The host spoke very good English and explained everything that was happening during the tea ceremony and the rational for it while the Geisha prepared and served the matcha tea. The authentic tea house is located on the hotel property and is very intimate allowing only 4 people per room. I am so glad we waited to experience a true Japanese tea house. No visit to the Price Marriott would be complete without a walk through the Takaragaike Park which is adjacent to the hotel. It is so breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful. Many artists were there painting and families were taking leisurely strolls. Across the small lake there was a place you could rent a small boat or a paddle boat by the hour and take a tour...
