Went there for the Ikebana big exposition. I stayed out during the demonstration to wait for my wife, who managed to buy a last-minute ticket the same day. The exposition was great. While waiting in the main building though, I searched for the bathroom, when I was attacked by two agents, one with an electronic probe; after checking on me, they followed me up to the toilets, then waited during my time there. A train terminates here so very easy to locate from any part of Kyoto. The staff were excellent, lots of non English speaking staff but didn't make a difference as you'll be quickly directed to an English speaking person. Read moreThe location is far from the city, but there is a subway connection nearby which makes it an easy ride in the mornings if you do not stay at a hotel by the ICC. Inside there are a couple of places to get simple food if your meetings do not provide catering. The facility is nice, it is large and it always reminds me of Klingon High Command from ST:TNG.
