Matsuyama was originally just meant to be a transfer stop on our way to Hiroshima, but in hindsight, I wish we had left Kotohira earlier and stayed two nights at Dogo Miyu instead of just one. When we arrived, our room wasn’t ready yet, but check-in went smoothly despite the limited English spoken. The staff still managed to give us clear guidance on what to see around town.||After spending the day exploring, we returned to our room—and it turned out to be one of the nicest we stayed in during our time in Japan. It was spacious, decorated in a modern Japanese style, and featured a private onsen on the balcony with views over the city.||The real surprise, though, was the restaurant. Dinner easily matched the standard of Michelin-starred places in larger cities. What made it especially memorable was the sommelier, who clearly knew his craft and had curated a nice wine list. Read moreThe hotel itself is beautiful, the rooms are very nicely decorated and very large in size, I loved that you have your own private onsen, I also used the public onsen and there where no other guests using it, I find it very strange that the hotel said we could not have breakfast on our first day as we had not booked it in advanced, we booked for the next day and we're not told there would be no choice of food, it was a set meal beautifully presented but when you don't like fish and have no choice there's no point on eating there, even though they have coffee in the lounge they would notlet us have coffee at breakfast as it was not part of there set meal, there same with dinner we were told we cou not have dinner or even a drink in the hotel restaurant without booking it I could understand if you were not a guest of the hotel but strange to me that guest just get access to...
