I have stayed here around 15 times in the past 10 years or so while visiting colleagues in Okazaki. On the positive side, the hotel has a wonderful rooftop Japanese bath, the public areas are recently renovated and it is close to the river and Okazaki castle which offer wonderful views, particularly in the autumn and spring. The HVAC has been renovated in the past few years (very welcome) and there is now wireless internet throughout the property. On the negative side, the rooms are teeny, the beds not particularly comfortable and the breakfast buffet a definite step down from the previous cook-to-order breakfast. The food is good, especially the breakfast which has great variety of both Japanese and Western food in inviting buffet format and on the ninth floor with great views of the river, the traditional Japanese ancient castle next door and view of the city. The staff are (as at most Japanese hotels) very friendly, helpful and efficient. The rooms are a bit basic -- certainly not luxurious. But, especially for a business trip, this hotel is truly excellent. The castle next door is in a beautiful Japanese style park which is a great place for an early morning...
