Context: we stayed a night in the middle of our bike ride in February (winter).
More of an older, homey traditional house modified into an Inn. Shared bathrooms and showers but there were only two rooms booked when we were there so no issues. Was a bit cold having to come upstairs from the shower but showers had good hot water and a heater. Rooms have portable dysons and comfortable futons.
Shiomi-san was a great host, gave us a lot of recommendations nearby and had a lot of paper guides prepared as well. Him and his wife care for the placement themselves so you can tell they really care about each visitor. They have a lot of free amenities like pads and skin products a lot of other places don't have. He even offered to help us take a picture outside by the bridge!
While we didn't use the lounge much, there's a comfortable indoor lounge with tea/coffee and hot water as well as kitchen items for use. There's also a spacious outdoor area with a hammock and chairs but it was too cold for us to use.
All in all a great stay and I think it would be even lovelier in the summer!...
Read moreThis is a clean and comfortable hostel in a quiet location nearby a number of local attractions. It’s just off the main cycling path so it’s very easy and convenient to get to. The bedrooms are upstairs along with a shared toilet, and there are two showers on the first floor (one for men and one for women). The room we stayed in had a lovely view of the sea and neighboring islands. I forgot to get a picture of the bedroom, but it was very clean and comfortable and had well-padded, warm futons. There was a mini fridge with reasonable prices as well. The staff is all very friendly and helpful and there were a lot of thoughtful touches around the rooms and the whole hostel itself. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the noisy room door locks that beeped a little tune every time the door opened and closed. There’s not much to do at night (at least when we visited during the off season) but there are some nice restaurants and...
Read morePerfect place to stay if you want a halfway point on the Shinminami Kaido cycling route. Hosts were very welcoming, provided bike parking and explained everything giving us a tour straight off. The rooms are clean and bright with fantastic views. You are staying right on the water so in the morning you can see the sunrise over the islands and it's just breathtaking. A short bike (10-15 min) to the beach (highly recommended). A lot of amenities provided and guidance about the area. The lounge is so cute and relaxing. I laid down in the hammock (after a few too many lemon sours) and the host offered to give me a wake-up call!! Amazing service and would go back for sure. Feels very homey and local while having an amazing...
