This place exceeded all our expectations! At first, we were just happy to have a place to spend the night so close to Universal Studios Japan without breaking the bank. But once we got there, it was clear that there was so much more than just proximity to USJ. ||The staff was welcoming, friendly, and extremely helpful. They spoke superb English, too! ||It's a hostel so you can get towels for a small fee, you share showers and bathrooms, you take care of your own linen when you arrive and upon leaving, etc.---the usual stuff, which is explained very clearly. They also have a vending machine with cold drinks on the ground floor.||Our room was HUGE. We had a private room with bunk beds for just me and my 8-year-old, but there could have been room for at least three other people (a huge difference from our tiny hotel room in Shinjuku). The beds and pillows were very comfortable, and a perfect place to get some rest after spending a whole day on your feet.||The play area on the ground floor was quite loud when we checked in, with kids running everywhere. Still, we couldn't hear them from our room upstairs. At any rate, quiet hours start at 10 pm. Every resident there seemed very nice when sharing space around the sinks, and my kid and I felt very safe using the shared showers and bathrooms.||We got 1.5-day tickets to USJ so we only stayed one night. We checked out on our own (very) early the next morning and, again, all the instructions were very easy to follow. I just wish I got to say "bye" to the staff person who greeted us the night before. He was delightful and I...
Read moreStayed here for one night - the next day we went to USJ. Pros: •very convenient •close to the train station/USJ •affordable •the staff were very kind and easy to talk to •Options for private rooms (no private bathroom)
Cons: •Odor!! As soon as we entered the hostel it smelled like a college dormitory (stuffy and body odor...) The smell was quite strong throughout the entire hostel. This was the biggest con. •Cleanliness. The rooms looked a bit beaten up and there were stains on the tatami. The stairs didn't look like they had been cleaned too recently. •Tight shower space. I'm quite petite but even for me it was a bit difficult to move around. Some Japanese hostels are like this, others aren't. I guess it really depends on the establishment. •Noise! Even though the hostel rules say no loud noises/conversations past 10:00, there were guests who were speaking very loudly and we couldn't get much sleep... :(
If you're looking for a quick place to stay and on a budget on your way to USJ, this may suit you. If/when we go back to USJ though, I'll most likely be shelling out a little more to stay...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. On the first night, I started feeling itchy and found my back has red rash after one night sleeping here. On the second day, when I returned to my room after being out, I found a cockroach on the floor and a spider on my bed sheet, which was absolutely unacceptable and raised serious concerns about cleanliness and hygiene.
In addition, the bed and pillows had to be set up by myself, and even basic amenities like towels and toothbrushes required an extra rental fee—none of which was clearly stated when I made the booking. I paid around 12350 yen per night for this spider room and I needed to rent a towel for 100 yen?! For anyone who is considering staying here, you can find way better room and service in Osaka with this budget.
The only positive aspect is the location, just one subway stop from Universal Studios Japan (USJ). However, considering the poor hygiene, lack of proper service, and extra hidden fees, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean and...
