We highly appreciate the cross hotel in Kyoto and that led us to choose the same hotel in Sapporo. BUT…. it was a real disappointment. The big disappointment first and for most is the breakfast. Unbelievable… we came more than one hour before the ending time of breakfast. (Before 09:00 o’clock) there was almost nothing to eat. Everything was empty. You would expect the employees to bring more food from the kitchen but instead they were busy cleaning as if they are about to close the restaurant. We were two, we put our bags and coats on the chairs and I called one of the waitresses and ask her for at least some forks and knives etc… she “did us a favor” and brought a set for one person… really? Are we expected to share the one fork and knife that you gave us?… The yogurt left over that was there, looked and felt so liquid and tasteless like water.,, And more and more can be said about the breakfast. As for the amenities for the bathroom or the Onsen: they are being kept near the reception as if they are watching what you take. Nothing of those are being put in the room’s bathroom so you skyways need to go to the reception to take them. I would expect a 4 star hotel to be more generous. Last but not least; the location. We thought it would make sense to be near the Sapporo station but we found ourselves most of the time spending in the area of the Odori park and south of there. So actually it would make much more sense getting an hotel closer to the Odori part or south of it. One other thing to add: the elevators are extremely slow. Good that they have chairs near the elevators so that you can sit and wait for them. So all in all, we expect much much more from a four star hotel. (Like cross hotel in Kyoto...
Read moreMy family and I did a roadtrip around Hokkaido and Cross Hotel Sapporo was the most outstanding accommodation for us in terms of service, value & comfort!
The staff were so kind to help us with various requests over email, such as luggage storage till we returned & restaurant reservations. The staff at the reception always welcomed us warmly & were very eager to assist us any time.
Onsen was also so nice after a long day of travels or exploring the city, it’s one of the few onsen where the view isn’t fogged up and u can even see the Sapporo TV tower! It also is equipped with Dyson hairdryers.
Location was great for us, it’s nearer to the Sapporo station and abt 10min walk away to the shopping / susukino area, so it was definitely less chaotic and quieter. When dragging our luggage from Sapporo station to the hotel, it’s much nearer too compared to hotels at the main shopping area & there is an underground walkway connecting to a nearby cafe for shelter for most of the way (a lifesaver cos it was raining when we arrived).
We stayed in different rooms during our stay. The semi double room with shower only is a snug room with a spacious toilet (barely enough space for 2 luggages but possible). The Cross Floor Double Room was a free upgrade (yay) and it was much more spacious even with a sofa plus drip coffee equipment.
Will gladly return to Cross hotel, thank you so much for making our stay so comfortable & for making us feel so welcomed and well...
Read moreThe onsen on the top floor is a real treat! My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights. We used the (separated) onsen a couple of times every day and found the experience very relaxing. The relaxation room between the men's and women's onsen provides great views over the city and was never busy during our stay. ||The buffet breakfast is very nice with lots of selections, including some very tasty local dishes. We were given an upgraded room when we checked in and it was very nice, spacious and with a great view from an upper floor. We were able to easily set the room temperature using the wall control. The bathroom was quite spacious with a great shower. ||The one thing lacking is space to put luggage, packing cubes with clothes and hanging space for more than just winter coats. There are no small shelves or hooks for these purposes. We were traveling with just one carry-on sized bag each, and a small backpack each and ended up spreading our stuff out on the small couch and side table. There were lots of USB and electrical outlets for recharging phones and laptops.||Google maps took us to the "back" door of the hotel, instead of the main entrance which is an easy walk from the...
