Hokkaido Hananomai - Sapporo Kita 2 Jo | Private Room — Restaurant in Sapporo

My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to eat horsehair/hairy crab since we heard that it's a must-eat in hokkaido. Since it was a last minute decision, we didn't have any reservations and most places that we checked out turned us away because they were fully booked. This restaurant had empty tables on the top floor and we were seated within a few minutes.

We ordered the hairy crab, deep fried chicken, the cheese crab rice, and steamed clams. We throughly enjoyed everything and we're satisfied with our order. The only reason why I gave a 4 instead of a 5 was because the crab didn't taste fresh, but it's very much possible that hairy isn't really in season right now. I also wasn't expecting the shell to be covered in sharp spike, so be aware if you're used to crabs with smooth shells. They provide scissors and picks. Everything cost about...

First of all, take that crab and potato pizza off your menu. It’s an abomination. It’s the only rendition of “pizza” they offer and it makes zero sense to have it. Haha. But the sashimi was fresh and good. I didn’t try the steamed crab, but my girlfriend said it was just mid. The cucumber appetizer was alright. The gyoza were very subpar. The boiled snow crab, on sale, was absolutely terrible - it was not fresh. Everything else is of mediocrity, except for the fried chicken. The fried chicken was great.

Serving times are very slow and an item was missing by the end of the meal. They seemed to have forgotten about it.

There also seems to be some sort of stigma against tourists. I'm not sure if the unsatisfactory experience had something to do with it or not.
