Agetate Kushiage Public Kushiyokocho Tecchan Tokeidai-dori branch — Restaurant in Sapporo

We had tried most of the popular foods in Hokkaido on our last day (soup curry, ramen, kaisendon, omu rice, shabu-shabu, sukiyaki etc), so we decided to visit an izakaya for dinner and drinks.

This appeared like any other izakaya on first impression, with a standard menu boasting a decent variety of dishes. I usually hate fried foods, but decided to give the kushiage options a go since it was recommended. We also got the curry with cheese on top for dipping. It was SO GOOD we ended up ordering more!

The staff were very friendly and are relatively fluent in English. One of them spilled just a bit of curry on the table during service (we barely even noticed it), but gave us 3 more kushiage sticks on the house. We really appreciated the gesture.

Recommended items from us: Miso flavoured cheese cubes All the kushiage sticks (we particularly loved the onion, lotus root, potato and all the meats), and the curry dip! Stamina plate (contains offal) Zangi (fried chicken)

Everything goes down well with a highball or a beer.

Only minor downside is that it is a smoking-friendly establishment, but the space is large enough that you can strategically position yourself further away.

I recently discovered an amazing restaurant right next to my hotel, purely by chance. It was a pleasant surprise to find such a fantastic spot that hasn't been overrun by the typical internet-fueled crowds.

The food was outstanding, especially the 刺身 (sashimi) and the perfectly chilled 啤酒 (beer). The freshness and quality of the sashimi were impressive, with every bite melting in my mouth. The beer paired so well that it elevated the entire dining experience.

What makes this place even better is its versatility. You can enjoy a hearty hot pot, indulge in sushi, or savor delicate plates of sashimi—all in one place! The variety caters to all cravings, and the flavors are authentic and satisfying.

They are friendly and the foods were nice. But they didn’t explain that the drinks are unlimited for 30 minutes. We had no idea, so we had just a cup of beer and highball each one.
