Hotel Yamadaya — Hotel in Shimoda

We stayed one night at Shimoda. Since we wanted to be away from the crowd we intend to choice a hotel further away from city centre and the port. ||||Room: The room is a typical Japanese style. It’s a bit on the old fashion style. Our room was at 4/F and we were welcome by a wonderful sunset. The staff will help you set your bed when you were having dinner. ||||Food: Food are nice and in a very good portion. ||||Hotspring: There are two public onsens for ladies and gentleman, both have indoor and outdoor. It’s relatively small but because the hotel was not full at the time we stay so it’s completely okay. ||||Staff: Staff are polite and friendly with okay English. One of the elderly lady is obviously a heavy smoker as she walked close to us I can clearly smell the smoke. ||||Others: Free parking...

We had reserved shuttle pick-up for 3pm. Without having to call, the shuttle was parked in the shuttle bus parking area of the Shimoda train station behind the taxi lines. The key is to have a picture of the hotel name in Japanese to match with the van. English communication is limited but ok. Dinner in the special room was excellent. Good quality seafood. Hotel has outdoor onsen. Breakfast was good too. The room has very good view of the whole bay. At night, the few lights from the ships and boats added to the beauty of the view. 10 am was the last shuttle to the train station. Plenty of time to explore the town further before taking a bus to...
