Checked in on a Friday evening and was instantly struck by the beauty once we arrived inside the lobby. The 7th floor lobby is home to many delights, to include a spectacular bar & cafe, a gift shop boasting regional trinkets and delectables, several vending machines to include beer vending options, and the entrance to two dining halls. Additionally the hotel is home to a pool and onsen, the male And female onsen rotates between day and night and offers multiple indoor and outdoor baths, a ramen restaurant and several additional dining halls, as well an esthetic salon. The rooms are spacious with several boasting gorgeous views of the harbor and surrounding cityscape. The overall feel of the hotel is one of being transported to the Showa period and of comfort. The hotel price is extremely reasonable for the service. The staff is hands down the best I’ve encountered and truly made the experience the finest yet. There is bus service to and from the Izukuyu-Shimoda station and the dinner times can be flexed accordingly if needed. So, my mom asked for it when she made a reservation, and I must say they exceeded our expectations. Everything was very nicely presented and the flavor was authentic. We also had a nice bath in a big spa tub after. There were plenty of vegetarian options for breakfast also. It’s wonderful to know that now a Japanese hotel like this is equipped to host guests with dietary restrictions. I am sure there are many international tourists who would really appreciate it. Japan has changed. I would definitely come back again when I...
