Oyado Kinkiyu — Hotel in Teshikaga

This town must have to be home to the most acidic onsen water ever to be funnelled into a hotel pool! Beware if you have any broken skin as this water stings. But it feels sooo good!! Lovely sulphur smell, with clearer (I suspect) watered down pools next to cloudy offerings. There is a small basin and cup with which to taste the hot spring within the bathing area - interesting to try, but it will strip the enamel off your teeth if you have more than a sip.|We arrived too late for hotel dinner and chose a 12000yen (2 people) plan that didn't include breakfast so I can't comment on the food offered. |We asked for a non-smoking room and actually got one that didn't smell of stale cigarettes - yay. Futons seemed harder than usual and the decor was nothing to write home about. The hotel is on the corner diagonally opposite the free foot baths on the main road, so no views to speak of. That said, I think I'd probably come back here as the water is so unique and it was quite cheap. |It's a pity this onsen doesn't have any open air pools - but there are 5 here, and a waterfall massage type thingy. I booked a room WITH air conditioning, but upon checking in, we found out there was NO air conditioning in the room. We asked the front desk, and they told us, we only have 2 rooms with air conditioning. The WHOLE HOTEL was WITHOUT air conditioning. We tried to make do and opened the window so that there’s some ventilation. Flies and bugs started to come into the room! So the room was very hot, and there were insects in the room. Totally not possible to open the windows at all. WIFI was supposed to be working, but it was NOT WORKING. So there was NO WIFI in the room.Hotel is being dishonest on the Trip.com as it stated that the rooms are WITH air conditioning. This has misled me and other guests (there were similar complaints!) into booking this hotel. This is an outright scam and lie. Hotel even had the audacity to suggest to us to ‘rent an extra fan’ so that it’s ’not too hot’. Please do not book with this hotel in the summer if you want to have an...
