This quant modern hotel is located just off of Shiomi Station about a block and a half down the roadway or underneath the viaduct. The rooms themselves are nicely appointed when traveling solo. Though, perhaps being ( 6' 0") makes a diffetence when sleeping in a Japanese double sized standard bed. The accomodation otherwise being very very cozy while recuperating from a pre-existing medical condition already with my hips since 2011.
I previously had had the opportunity of traveling to Tokyo on vacation during the summer months in July thru August. The air conditioning was a tremendous relief. And the onsen used everyday for bathing exceptional for this mere reason I chose this hotel over many others, which did not include one or usage of such on the premises etc. Such an integral part of the time spent whilst on holiday enjoying any moment to retreat to a spa.
During the winter month of December upon returning to the same hotel which is basically a great location between walking distance to the larger Olympic Swimming Center and also witjon distance of one of Tokyo's finest niteclubs nearby ... plus Sea-Disney world etc. Plus a super 'supermarché' also in proximity of the hotel for anything else wanted that's fresh and ready-to-eat.
If its convenience and easy accomodation that is key in a short stay in Tokyo this is one of my most favorite places to be able to come back to. Since APA is a very popular hotel-chain nationwide it is easy to find a location instantly in every locale in the city. Although the best ones usually have an onsen somewhere indoors to relax in. Though if an onsen is an important feature in a hotel like many preger having too, this one is definitely one of the finest ones they offer for single travelers on-the-go, or grad students etc.
Families of course are always welcomed but the wonderful part about being in Tokyo is its trademarks of accommodating to all at every age. And certainly however the standards are comfort would've been more lovely (without the cleaning serviced in at 10:00 each morning) to change the bedding -- since the sheets and duvet plus the comforter were really heavenly to sleep in for hours on end ... if you wanted the rest of the time alone, honestly, just to rest and watch TV -- it was absolute wonderfulness.
But a reminder this is a standard Japanese hotelier. And not in the 5-star categories for touted luxury brands and by-products. The food on the other hand is also a standardized Japanese buffet with an outstanding array of Western entrees and breakfast selections.
Successively being close to the bay was refreshingly different than being further inland. And if it were not for this one aspect that year I think it may have had a diffetent impact on.my love of Japan, its peopling, Fashion, Food and Culture that made such a huge impression to return...
Read moreElegant, cozy, and convenient and a few words that come to mind when the name, "APA Shiomi" come to mind. The check in was quick. The staff were adept in speaking English and we're very helpful. I recall the lobby area to be very classy and efficient. There was also a Lawson store connected to the lobby so you may buy snacks, coffee, cigarettes beer and any other items one so desires. As we entered our rooms, we were not flabbergasted to how small the rooms were, for small room Size is a reality that the majority of business hotels in Japan have and if one is booking a room in the name of low price and location, a small room is the price you must pay. Despite the tiny room, the bed was very comfortable. I slept as soft as butter on a fluffy bed of pancakes, melting away into nirvana. Unfortunately, I cannot go into detail about the breakfast buffet due to the elimination of its purpose by the more inexpensive alternative, Lawsons; I can say that the price was not bad and the food looked fulfilling to quenching one's hunger. In retrospect, I feel that the APA near shiomi station is convenient for those who wish to stay near Tokyo station and the surrounding attractions, it will suit you fine. However, if one wishes to visit areas such as Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku, or craves the slurppy joy of Takadanobaba ramen, then it will be a trek to get to those other areas from the station. However, if one is looking for a place to stay that is away from the hustle and bustle of the dystopic metropolitan megamatropolis once known as Edo, then APA Shiomi offers escape to a quiet area of the city where only the sounds of the tracks from the station...
Read moreWe stayed at the Apa Tokyo Shiomi ekimea. The room was cheap (about 75usd per night) and we do believe you get what you pay for, but we thought it was just because it was a small room. Unfortunately our first room was extremely dirty (hair and dirt on the floor, super dusty surfaces, stained bed spread, brown stain on the toilet seat!?, and it smelled quite bad as well). We were quite shocked because we had been staying in budget friendly hotels all around Japan for almost two weeks prior but even when small all of them were at least very clean. We went to complain and the guy at the front desk seemed rather unsurprised, said I’m sorry and gave us the room next door. With high hopes we went to the new room only to find it in pretty similar condition. After seeing the room we went back down to complain again. The second guy we met had slightly better customer service skills, and offered to show us a few different rooms that we could choose from. We looked at three rooms and none of them still were seemingly up to par the employee actually told us “I’m sorry, all the rooms have this same feel to them”. We had already gotten in late and were extremely tired by the time he had shown us the third room it was about 2:30am. We said we could stay the one night but wanted to refund the rest of our stay which he said was okay. He gave us a deep apology but that was all. I woke up the next morning feeling really congested and gross. Overall I absolutely would not recommend staying here, especially if you have a dust...
