I booked the Twin Room - Non-Smoking for 5 nights from April 17th to April 22nd. Rate was roughly $140 USD per night (20k yen) and included breakfast each morning.
I had arrived early from Osaka and dropped off luggage at the front desk, which was great! Check in later was smooth. I had not prepaid, so was asked to pay up front. The amount matched my booking estimate with a little extra for tax. I had previously asked for extending the stay for 2 nights via booking.com, but was told I would need to redo the reservation. I decided not to do this, since the rates were higher and availability was severely limited. The staff did note my request upon check in; however, I had booked another hotel already so didn't pursue further.
The location is wonderful for hopping on the Keiyo line train at Shiomi Station. It takes about 10 minutes to get to Tokyo Station and about 30 minutes to Makuhari Messe, which is where I went for a convention. Koto City area doesn't have a lot nearby in terms of restaurants. I am also vegetarian so the options are even more limited. The cafe on the first floor does have dining options (pizza etc) and the restaurant on the second floor has fancier meals. The restaurant does appear to get booked often for events and stops taking orders a little early. There's a small Family Mart convenience store on the first floor - great for grabbing drinks/snacks on the way out! Overall, location was convenient but dining options limited.
Speaking of meals, I had breakfast included with my booking. 100% worth it. A breakfast buffet with tons of options and some made to order items available on request too. Breakfast was at the 2nd floor restaurant for most of my days; however, it was booked for an event one day, so it was moved to the smaller 1st floor cafe on one morning.
The hotel has some cool facilities like a laundry that is also a manga library! The 2nd floor had a lot of art of anime girls portraying each of the regions of Japan, pretty cool.
Regarding, the room, nothing too special. Room felt a little stuffy. I think maybe why it had a humidifier. I didn't use it. The age of the hotel is starting to show a little, but the rooms were decently clean and functional. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't an English channel available on TV, but a minor inconvenience. The channel listing may have changed over time since I thought NHK - English was supposed to be available. There was no way to cast to the TV, unlike other hotels I stayed at during my trip. Overall, minor inconveniences.
As I had mentioned, the local area near the hotel doesn't have a lot of restaurants or lot to do in general. I didn't really walk around in the evening because of this. It is pretty quiet on the plus side! Beautiful courtyard in the middle of the hotel!
TLDR: Hotel with great value and amazing breakfast! Train station right next to the hotel is super convenient! Great jumping off point to...
Read moreThis hotel’s hospitality and service are an absolute disgrace. I booked a twin room with twin beds for five nights for one adult and one child. With the number of beds I selected, it was obvious the booking was for two people. When booking through Trip.com, I wasn’t able to specify my child’s age, but at no point did I try to hide the number of guests. In fact, I noticed that the price remained the same even when selecting two adults.
Upon check-in, a male receptionist named KT Vu had the audacity to demand an additional 4,000 yen per night for my child—a total of 25,000 yen that I had never been informed of. It was already late at night after a long flight, yet KT Vu relentlessly chased after me even after I received my room key. He then threatened that if I chose to stay, my child would not be allowed to enter or stay in the hotel. What kind of person in their right mind would say such a thing about an 11-year-old child?!
As if that wasn’t enough, KT Vu harassed me with non-stop phone calls to my room. By the time I finally got to my room, it was almost 9 PM, and all I needed was a place to rest after a tiring journey. Is this really how Hotel Kaie treats its guests?
I contacted Trip.com for help, and their supervisor personally called the hotel to verify the situation. The supervisor apologized after checking the hotel’s website, confirming that there was no mention of an additional child charge—especially in my case, since I had booked a twin room, which should already cover the fees for two guests. The Trip.com supervisor even instructed me to pay the additional amount upfront, assuring me they would reimburse me later. I appreciate their initiative in resolving this issue, but I am absolutely appalled by Hotel Kaie’s treatment of its guests.
So, I ask Hotel Kaie—is this how you train your front desk staff? And for the additional 4,000 yen per night, exactly what extra service are you providing for my child?! This experience has been nothing but stressful, frustrating, and completely...
Read moreAlthough this hotel appears to be in the middle of nowhere, it really turned out to be a major reason why my trip to Tokyo went so smoothly and I had an amazing experience!
The hotel itself is stunning and right across the street from the JE train line. I never heard any train noises, and the rooms had fantastic soundproofing as I rarely heard any out-of-room sounds. And being that it was on this line, it was ideal for visiting Disney, as you didn't have to do any complex transfers, as it is only a few stops away on the JE line, or navigate busy stations like the main Tokyo Station. Do not underestimate how busy Tokyo station is after a full day of wandering the Disney resorts, so this was a huge plus.
And speaking of Tokyo Station, it was only a few stops away on the JE line, and provided access to a major hub that connected you to the rest of the City. It made getting around insanely easy.
The rooms were spacious, even by western standards, and the amenities were expansive. I think I had a bath every night with the bubble bath and salts they had available in the lobby. They even have a convenience store within the hotel itself, which was really handy for snacks or a quick bite. And if it wasn't open or didn't have what you were looking for, there was a grocery store across the street, and at least 5 other convenience stores within a 5-10min walk.
Even if I don't go to Disney on my next Tokyo trip, I will more than likely...
