This is probably the worst experience I had over the last ten days in Japan. To be consider how busy it is in the store around 10 pm, there's only 3-4 staff with almost a full house. First of all, our order was messed up with the table across from us. I have all my receipt and present it to this Japanese server. Not sure what's going on as the Indian server came around and bring us an extra set of food. I then told them that my cold noodle was not soba, it's is udon. The server might be a bit annoyed which he tried to tell me the cold noodle is technically just one kind of noodle. Some I don't speak Japanese, I tried to match the sign on the receipt with the menus he tried to present in front of me. Then he realized that I wasn't lying and I did order the right thing. This is when he took my receipt when I was trying to keep it for me travel expenses records. I asked them nicely to return the receipt for me, but they start acting all weird and pretend like they don't understand me. This Japanese guy then came out and tell me to speak in Japanese, not English with some weird anger tone. All I want is my receipt, and I ask them kindly if they could reprint it for me. They start doing weird faces in the back and sent the Indian guy to me and say there's is no way they can reprint anything. UGHhhh then why do you take mine originally and act like you didn't take it. The attitude from the Japanese man really make us feel unwelcome, but we arent the one that was in wrong. He declared no manager, no receipt and no way to reprint. Such an unpleasant experience consider it is just a meal for us, but I really hope no one else need to experience this. The following the the remaining receipts I...
Read moreNakau is a very memorable restaurant for me and one I highly recommend. I would love to come back here, as I thought the food was amazing especially for what I felt was a low price in comparison to what I experience living in Canada. After a long day of travel and a midnight arrival, Nakau was the only restaurant open (24 hours a day). It was conveniently right across the street from our hotel, Tokyo Bay Shiomi Prince Hotel.
Ordering is easily done through a machine with several language options, and you can pay cash or card. After your tickets are received you give them to an employee and they will prepare your order. I ate here around 4 times during my week in Japan and had take out as well, both when it was full and when it was almost empty. Regardless of how busy it was, my entire meal came out in the time it took me to go to the washroom and come back to my table.
Cold green tea is served to you after you order which I found very refreshing and a good addition to my meals. I tried several of their menu items, such as udon with tofu and tempura bits, fried chicken, oyakodon, and my personal favourite, the egg with chicken, rice, leeks, chili oil, and a raw egg on the side which you can put on top and mix with everything else. I loved everything I ordered! I would spend 1,100 to 1,400 yen ($10-12 CAD) and I would be very full.
Their servers are rather quiet and may provide different service compared to what you're used to, but they were always polite to me despite limited interaction.
I highly recommend visiting and eating here by yourself, at least once. It was a wonderful experience for me~...
Read moreHonestly I don’t know why the rating is so low because it’s simply delicious and healthy compared to burger joints and other fast food. Don’t overlook this spot since your biggest regret in Japan is not trying this place out. Where in the US can you get a completely healthy whole food meal for $3-$4? I’m SO glad I came here despite the ratings because it was the best $13 spent for breakfast for 4 of us. This place offers simple comfort food that reminds me of home cooked meals. It’s something I make for my kids all the time back home but better. We stayed at the hotel across the road and had major jet lag so we came here at 4:30am, and we each ordered the rice set with miso soup plus protein of your choice (beef, egg, ham, salmon, natto). My kids loves it here and they want to keep coming back for more. If you’re staying at the hotels across the street and is arriving late at night or can’t sleep, save yourself from eating at the convenience store and come eat here instead. It’s 24 hours! Best kept...
